Byleth laughed, "I will say it was hilarious to fool the archbishop to let me borrow this scroll for research. I'm so trusted there that they would let me do anything..."
"That's pretty smart, using your reputation as a weapon...." Rafal laughed. Byleth opened the scroll up and looked through it. The other villains were yelling at one another. Byleth didn't care but he was focused on trying to understand the scroll.
Byleth sighed, "There's a lot of information in here. But specifically how Zehira created Zethus."
"How Zehira created Zethus? I am curious about that..." Rafal walked in a little closer as the two read the scroll together.
Marth groaned, "I told the heroes about what Byleth is planning. I'm just afraid he's going to find out about what I'm doing and then punish me for it."
"You need to be very careful about this, the heroes probably took safety precautions and are ready to take Byleth head on when he attacks the kingdoms," Beth muttered. Marth nodded as he looked down at himself. "I hate my brother but this is too much..."
Ike asked while whispering, "Now this is too much for you? How dumb are you really?"
"I'm not that dumb! Come on!"
"GUYS FOR GOD'S SAKE, STOP ARGUING!" Byleth demanded. The villains went silent as Marth looked down at himself.
Marth sighed, "Not only do we need the heroes to protect the place but we need to aid them in some form. Preferably we need to aid them by finding out what exactly is rotting Byleth's brain..."
"The idea of perfection is rotting his brain, I thought that was obvious," Beth groaned.
Marth replied, "That is not true, he wants world domination now. I am just curious what exactly drove him into this mindset and the reasoning as to why he wants to hurt the heroes so badly. Byleth wouldn't be doing this consciously for the good of gaining 'perfection.' That doesn't even exist..."
"But world domination does exist, he wants to do everything to gain it... I heard word that he is going to try casting a spell on the heroes to make them do his bidding," Eirika mumbled. The villains looked back at the two and back at one another. "That's just it... I don't know anymore..."
Ephraim responded, "Eirika, you saying this is going to help us in the long term to understand what exactly Byleth is trying to do..." Byleth kept reading the scroll until he learned all the information within it.
Byleth explained, "Apparently Zehira created Zethus as a way to have a successor in case he were to die in any form. He did for a short while since he was the one corrupting Chrom's body back during 2065. However, Zethus still passed away from the events of the Fire Dawn war..."
"So that means his soul is lingering around Dawn somewhere?"
"It's definitely a possibility and the one I believe is the one that is true..." Byleth responded. He showed the scroll to Rafal who read a little more about it. "Think about it, Zethus' soul has to be in the air somewhere... Why else would there be negative energy everywhere? Alcryst has to be one of his puppets. I'm certain of it..."
Rafal groaned, "Alcryst is a real person, right? He's not Zethus' puppet at all. Even if he was his puppet, how come he's working with the heroes?"
"That's because Alcryst most certainly manipulated the heroes to listen to everything he says and make him fall under his spell. Zethus wants to corrupt the entire team, I'm the only one standing here," Byleth suggested. Rafal looked at him in confusion and looked back at the scroll.
Rafal sighed, "While I don't doubt that his soul is in the air somewhere, don't you believe him corrupting the heroes is a bit too far fetched?"
"What are you talking about?! He one hundred percent corrupted my teammates! Why else would I beat up Chrom so badly?!" Byleth yelled. Rafal looked at him again in confusion and back at the scroll. "I just need to get rid of Alcryst! Sacrificing him for the ritual won't be worth it! I need something greater!"
Rafal sighed, "About that mirror... what did the mirror suggest you should do?"
"The mirror suggested I should sacrifice one of my best friends in order to gain that power... however, I think I need to sacrifice one of the villains..." Byleth laughed as he turned to them.
Rafal asked, "But that wouldn't work?"
"You don't understand my goal Rafal... and whatever you do... Don't disobey me. You know what could happen to you if you were to ever so so dumb enough to..." Byleth giggled as he grabbed Rafal's shirt. Rafal stared at him in confusion as Byleth put him down. "Now... onwards to Liyue..."
