Distorted From True Reality ~ Chapter 23

 "Byleth?!" Alear asked as she walked around the area. There were people talking and laughing but no sign of Byleth anywhere. He was mysteriously gone. "Damn it! Where did he go now?"

Suddenly a voice called out, "ALEAR!" It was Chrom, he was running over and appeared to be in distress.

Alear questioned, "Chrom!? What news did we find out about the situation!?"

Chrom replied, "I'm afraid we may have found the murder weapon by DNA... and it doesn't appear that it isn't a good sign at all." Alear grew fearful as she walked over to investigate the situation. The heroes were gathering as much information as possible alongside the police. Then one of the officers walked to Alear.

The officer explained, "Hey you two, my name is Alm and it's good seeing you guys again. Anyways, I'm the chief officer and lots of us have been investigating the matter." Soon another officer walked over, it was Celica.

Celica explained, "Glad we caught you Alear, as I explained to Chrom earlier we may have found details that lead up to the murder weapon. The murder weapon is yet to be confirmed but... we have a feeling that it is what we found out."

"Do explain, it'll be important for our further investigations," Alear ordered. Celica nodded as she casted a spell regarding the details. Then it showed the murder weapon. Both Chrom and Alear were placed in disbelief. Soon Alcryst walked over.

Alcryst asked, "I-Is that the murder weapon?"

"Perhaps not the weapon that did the killing blow but rather the weapon that did the most harm to Mario," Celica explained. The two were in disbelief while Alcryst felt himself confused. Soon Shez and Kirby walked over.

Shez asked, "Is... is that the murder weapon!?"

"Like I said, it may not be the weapon but rather the weapon that did the most harm to Mario. Playing a big role to his death," Celica re explained. Shez nodded as the group just stared at the infographic Celica had.

Chrom grunted, "That can't be true! Someone must've grabbed hold of that weapon and done it themselves! I can't see him doing this to Mario!"

"Neither can I..."

Celica sighed, "Either way, we have to arrest him and put him under interrogation. I'm afraid it is the case..."

"That weapon belonged to him right? There's... just a lot of things that connect to him being responsible for his death. I'm afraid this is the case like Celica said..." Alcryst replied.

Celica asked, "Well what is it going to be? Are you guys going to defend him in court or are you going to oppose him?"

Alcryst replied, "I'm going to oppose him, I can't let a criminal get away with a crime this big. Especially since he killed a team member."

"As much as I don't want to... I'm going to also oppose him," Shez responded with some sorrow. Kirby didn't reply and went on to help everyone else. Alear and Chrom stared at one another and took a deep breath.

Alear explained, "I and Chrom both agreed that we are going to defend him. Surely there's something behind this that means that he didn't do it. There just has to be evidence that he didn't do anything."

"I agree strongly with Alear, I'm going to defend him. I refuse to believe he killed Mario in such a cold-hearted nature," Chrom agreed.

Celica sighed, "You four will be participating in this murder trial, you all must attend. In the meanwhile, I will go ahead and find him and arrest him." Celica removed the infographic and turned her back away from the group. "Alm..."

Alear grunted, "You would oppose him!? Especially you Shez!"

"I have to do what is best for me and everyone else! As much as I don't want to, I can't help but believe that he is responsible for this, whether you like it or not," Shez replied.

Chrom sighed, "I can't believe you Shez... I can't believe ALL OF YOU! You're going to be sorry once he's innocent!"

"I apologize but the only one who will be sorry is you two! I get that he's close to you guys but that does not mean he will get away with murder! I will not allow it!" Alcryst replied while tensing up a little. He shook his head and stared at Shez.

Shez sighed, "I'll see you all at the trial then. Only one way to tell what is truly going on..." Then the four parted ways with one another as the rest of the heroes continued their investigation.

Alm explained, "I think we're going to arrest our first suspect. We're going to interrogate him and then we're going to trial."

"Who do you believe it is?"

Celica described, "Based on our evidence, the connections, everyone's alibis... it's safe to say it is one of you guys." The heroes turned over to each other and separated. They were suddenly afraid of one another.

Alm whispered, "Go arrest him now, I'll deal with the others..." Celica nodded as he looked at everyone, she took a deep breath and...
