Echoing Fear ~ Chapter 81

"Oh Byleth...." Echoed a voice as Byleth slowly woke up. He looked around the room and noticed how dark and empty it was. He can't remember what last happened, or even what happened at all. He searched the area until he saw a figure, they had a similar attire to him, and... even appeared like him.

Byleth asked, "W-What the hell!?"

"I hope your daydreams have been the best they have been," The person replied. Byleth glanced them up and down.

Byleth muttered, "Why do you have my enlightened one attire?"

"That won't be necessary at all!" Byleth stared at them, they looked just like him, except his face was covered in a shadow. Byleth looked down at himself, he was so confused; what was going on? "Have you enjoyed your time here?"

Byleth asked, "W-What?! Enjoyed my time?!" Then he realized where he was, in a place inside his thoughts. He no longer had control of his body. He attempted to move but saw the chains down on his arms and legs. "NO!"

The figure replied, "I'm who you are going to be once I get my hands on that crown..."

"LET GO OF MY BODY AT ONCE!! LEAVE ME BE!!!" Byleth screamed as he attempted to attack them. "WHY HAVE YOU DONE THIS TO ME!" The figure didn't say anything, he turned around and walked away from Byleth.

The figure sighed, "It's called being perfect and DOMINATING THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!" Byleth stood there staring as he looked down at himself in disbelief. He couldn't let the world fall to ruin to someone else entirely, but he had no control over them. It was all done for.

"No... I don't care for power or dominating the world! I JUST WANT MY FUCKING LIFE BACK!! GIVE BACK MY FRIENDS!! GIVE BACK MY LIFE!!" The figure teleported away as Byleth looked at them with anger. He was so tired of being pushed around all over the place. He wanted support, but how?

The figure laughed, "How dumb can you possibly be? I mean I know you want to get your 'precious' world back but that isn't going to happen, you belong to me..." The figure giggled. Byleth looked at them with worry and then down at himself.

Byleth muttered, "All because I stared at a mirror... we led ourselves down this spiraling path of destruction."

"It was a blessing for me! I don't know how you could ever be so saddened..." The figure giggled. Byleth looked at him and looked down at himself. He didn't know what to do. He was unable to do much, trapped in the prison of a reflection of someone he didn't want to be.

Byleth grunted, "What is so important to me that you so desperately want?"

"You are a perfect vessel, you are intelligent, smart, cunning even. You were just perfection..." The figure giggled. Then the figure fully revealed themselves, they looked exactly the same as he did. His eyes were purple and he had blood stains all over his clothing.

Byleth gasped, "What is... is going on..."

"AHAHA!" The Other Byleth laughed. Byleth stood there in shock, he didn't know what to do. He was scared, he was terrified. He just didn't know what to do.

"Why... Why do you want to do this?"

"YOU ARE PERFECTION! YOU ARE EVERYTHING!! I KNEW YOU WERE THE PERFECT VESSEL AND YOU WERE SO FOOLISH TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR BEFORE THAT WEDDING!!" The Other Byleth laughed. Byleth looked down at himself, he hasn't been in control of his body for the past 5 months. It was nearly Phila.

He wishes to be in control again, he was unable to do much to celebrate the new year with his own allies. The people he loved, he killed Mario without realizing it. He couldn't do anything, he was tied to this creature.

The Other Byleth explained, "I can't WAIT to get the crown! I've been wanting the crown of eons! EONS!!" Byleth stared at him. Something about him felt strange, it was a version of him sure but he didn't even exist... not yet at least."

"That crown will NEVER be yours..." The Other Byleth stared down at Byleth smiling. Byleth felt uncomfortable, his purple eyes were just gazing upon him. They glowed through the darkness. The purple aura surrounded him more. "Who are you even!?"

The Other Byleth explained, "I am your reflection. That reflection in the mirror! That was me! I finally found a way to take control of your body!"

Byleth stared at him and then looked down at himself. He could remember the events clearly. "You were the reflection I saw on the mirror that day... that day when I was getting ready I saw you, but then you vanished. That's when you attacked me and took over my body."

"How cute... anyways I hope you enjoy seeing your friends suffer! I will make sure I take my revenge and BURN THE TOWN DOWN!" The Other Byleth laughed.

Byleth screamed, "NO LEAVE HERO TOWN ALONE!! NO!!! NO!!!" The Other Byleth smiled at him before walking off. Byleth attempted to chase him but was unable to. He looked down at himself in anger and fell on his knees. "My... allies..."

"AHAHAHAHA!!!"
