It was several hours before anyone came to speak with them again. In that time, L exchanged some small talk with Robbie. They also had a light meal since L didn't really feel up to eating. Brigitte came to tend to her head wound, and nobody brought up the incident from the day before. Instead, they discussed the situation in Lymasia, and L was already itching to get back there.

"The Demons have overrun the base, from what we've been told, and there are still a number of inhabitants missing."

L felt the pinch when the dressing was replaced but she ignored the pain.

"And what about Robbie's parents? You said they were safe, right?"

"Yes, they were rescued by Edra, along with several others."

L was relieved to have it confirmed again, as if hearing it once wasn't enough.

"When can we go to them?" Robbie asked.

"L's head wound is still a concern. I'd like to monitor it for another day or two. It's a substantial wound, and with your magic having not fully returned yet, I'd be worried about letting you go out there too soon." Brigitte seemed to be making sure L understood how serious it was.

L sighed, "Fine, but do you have a phone so we can call Edra or get a message to Robbie's parents?"

Brigitte finished tending to L and gave her a surveying look. L wasn't sure what she was thinking, but she turned to Robbie instead.

"Robbie, could you please find Lowell downstairs and tell him I need the safety phone?"

Robbie looked a little confused and glanced to L, who just shrugged.

"Alright, I'll be back in a minute."

He walked out after another cursory glance at L.

"If you're going to talk about Bryce again, please don't. I can't listen to that right now." L said as soon as the door clicked shut.

Brigitte gave her a sad smile, "You're still digging your heels in, I see. Alright but no, I actually wanted to talk about you and how you're doing."

L shrugged, "I'm fine, and I'll be even better when I get my claws into Andrei."

L couldn't stop imagining her revenge. She would get to him again one day and make him sorry he ever came near the Keepers.

"And that's what I'm concerned about. Your thoughts are solely focused on Andrei... you just lost your parents as well, L. The people you've been searching for your whole life and you've barely mentioned them. I can see the pain you're trying to hide from everyone."

L locked eyes with Brigitte, and she almost lost her composure.

She quickly turned away.

"Listen, I'm sorry if I've been rude to either of you. Yes, I lost them, and yes, something happened to Bryce. I have... pain... in fact, so many emotions are boiling inside of me, but if I let them out now, I might just explode. And I like your Inn very much, so please, just let me deal with this in my own way."

L couldn't look at Brigitte again, but she felt a hand patting her shoulder.

"I understand, more than you probably realise. But you also need to understand that you won't be able to bottle it up forever. That explosion will come, I just hope it doesn't hurt someone close to you when it does." She let go of L's shoulder and packed up the medical supplies. "Be careful, L."

She walked out of the door and left L with her thoughts, thoughts she didn't want or need. She stared out of the window, lost in a trance until Robbie walked back in. He was holding a mobile phone in his hand, looking at her curiously.
