Janner sat on his bed, looking through his things. He had just finished packing, but was double-checking his bag to make sure he hadn't missed anything.

A knock on his door snapped him out of his thoughts. He already knew who it was.

He opened the door to find Kalmar.

"You don't have to go if you don't want to." Kal said.

"I need to." Janner replied.

Kal sighed,  then walked away.

Janner closed his door, then finished looking through his things. He had everything he would need to survive in the cold. He swung his bag over his shoulder, then left his room and headed for the family room.

Once there, he found his whole family waiting for him.

Except for Kal and Sara.

Janner said his goodbyes to the family, then headed to his brother's room. He knew Kal felt guilty about sending him out there, since everyone didn't want him to leave.

Janner knocked on the door.

"Come in." A sad voice said from inside.

Janner went in and found Kal sitting on his bed.

"Kal, you don't have to feel guilty. This is my choice."

Kal sighed. "But if I hadn't listened..."

"I still would've gone. And I still am going." Janner hugged his brother. "I'll see you soon."

Kal forced a smile. "See you soon."

Janner walked out and closed the door. His hardest goodbye still awaited him.

Janner left his bag by his room and knocked on Sara's door. The door opened, and without a word, Janner hugged her.

She cried into his shoulder. He hugged her all the more tighter.

"If you don't want me to go-"

Sara cut him off. "You need to though."

"I can find someone else to go." Janner said quietly.

"No, you're the best option."

Janner sighed. "I'll stay."

"No, you need to go." Sara said quickly. Her tears subsided. "Your country needs you."

"But I need you." Janner sighed. "I don't know what I'll do out there without you." He pressed his forehead to hers.

Sara smiled. "Trust the Maker."

"It's easier than it sounds."

Sara entwined her fingers with his. "Just try."

Janner smiled, then kissed her forehead. "I love you." He whispered.

"I love you too. Stay safe." Sara replied.

Janner wrapped an arm around her, and kissed her.

After a few moments, a guard appeared at the door. "Sir, your horse is ready." He said.

Janner nodded his head. "Thank you, I'll be out in a moment."

The guard bowed, then walked away.

Janner turned to Sara. "You okay with this?"

Sara nodded her head. "You need to go."

Janner sighed, then stood up. "I'll see you soon."

Sara forced a smile.

Then he left.

.......

Okay so for the last part when Janner was leaving, I honestly feel like Warriors by Imagine Dragons would fit that scene.
