Tara's POV!

Thankfully, after that night, Ellie had left me alone for the most part. still, she checked in on me, something I liked most about her. I had clearly hurt her but she still cared more about how I felt than herself. At the friendly match against Australia, we were both played, just like the first game we played together, and I couldn't help but want to run over and celebrate with her when I scored but my heart wouldn't allow it. I had to let her move on with someone who knew how to love her.

or so I thought.

The morning after the match was pretty calm, everyone either still being in bed or doing their own thing in the relax room. I was sat with Leah, Keira and Georgia when the dreaded question came up, of course it was Leah as well.

"Have you spoke to Ellie?" She asked.

"erm- n-not really no," I replied bluntly, not wanting to start a whole conversation about it. Georgia and Keira had now looked up from their phones and were listening to the conversation.

"I think you should Tara... she does deserve answers and you know that," Leah reasoned and I thought for a moment. She did deserve answers but, how was I supposed to tell her something like that? she wouldn't understand and would most likely find it hugely pathetic.

"I know, I know she does," I sighed.

"you love her," Leah blurted out and my eyes shot up at her , "don't argue back, you do and you know you do," she said, I couldn't help but think she knew deep down why I did what I did.

"how do you know that? how can you be the one to tell me that?" I said, my voice raised a little.

"because I know you Tara... and I know you're scared but, how can you get over that fear if you never face it? how can you ever be with someone if you're going to be scared of that forever?" she said before I could interrupt again.

"I- erm I don't know," I sighed, meeting Leah's sympathetic eyes, "I don't trust myself Leah," I admitted.

"We're gonna go get some food, come find us when you're ready," Keira said as her and Georgia stood up, that's when I knew this was going to get very deep. As they left, Leah shuffled over to sit beside me.

"How do you feel when you're with Ellie?" she asked me. I paused to think before I spoke.

"happy? I don't know... she makes me feel like I mean something, she makes me feel like I have a role in the world instead of being a burden..." I said, just speaking the words that came to my head.

"and how do you think you make her feel?" she asked.

" how am I supposed to know that?" I scoffed.

"because you know her... so now, how do you make her feel?" she repeated.

"When i'm around, she smiles more... If I see a photo of her at training, the smile that she has when I'm around doesn't exist, and then when I see her, It returns," I smile at the thought.

"exactly... if she didn't feel loved by you, she wouldn't be that happy around you. She gets so much love at city, and yet it still doesn't make her as happy as the love you give her," Leah's words were swirling around my head, was she right? of course she was, she's Leah. "now tell me, do you seriously think that she'd be any happier without you?"

"she seems to be,"

"Tara no, tell me honestly, do you think the girl who cries into her pillow every night is doing better because she's not with you anymore?" she said sternly. those words hit deep, the thought of her crying every night with no one to hold her, it made my heart shatter. My silence was enough for Leah to start talking again.

"and now tell me, is that feeling in your chest a feeling you would get for someone you 'don't love'?" she added. The more Leah spoke, the more annoyed at myself I was becoming.

"Oh my god I'm an idiot," I sighed, realising it was probably too late to go and explain myself to Ellie.

"No you're not, I'm fact, I think the fact you did it just makes it more clear how much you do love her... you hurt yourself because you thought you were going to hurt her, that's love... you just showed it the wrong way," Leah said, she seemed very proud of herself.

"Do you know where she is?" I asked the smirking blonde.

"I think she was in the cinema room, might want to check there," she told me as I stood up, quickly nodding and beginning to walk away.

"oh and Leah," I said turning back around to her.

"yeah,"

"I love you," I smiled, causing a grin to form on her face.

"I love you most little one," she replied, before standing up and heading in the direction of where Keira and Georgia had gone before. Instantly, I picked up my pace towards the cinema room.

"everything alright Tara?" Millie said as I dashed around the corner, almost bumping into her and Rach.

"Yeah sorry, just need to find someone," I laughed without stopping, leaving them with smirks on their faces

Weird

As I approached the door of the cinema room, Alex and Chloe were stood outside, smirking at me as I walked up.

"okay what's going on?" I laughed.

"find out for yourself," Chloe said, pointing to the door and telling me to enter. As the doors opened I was met with the one person I was looking for.

"Ellie?" I questioned as she stood there smiling at me, a bouquet of yellow flowers in her hand. I had hurt her and yet she was the one holding flowers.

"please don't go," she panics when she sees me.

"I won't, I promise," I replied, walking closer to her and she held out a hand for me to take.

"Tara..."
