Yoko's POV:
My eyes follow Wednesday as she runs into the hospital building, leaving me in the dust. I chuckle and shake my head. I lock the car doors before walking into the hospital myself.
I waved hello to the receptionist. You know me, I have to be polite. At least something to keep my mind off of...
Nevermind.
I turn the corner and down the hallway to Enid's room. I see Wednesday standing right up against the door, listening in. What is she listening to?
She slowly backs away. Her face is a mixture of sadness and anger. I think.
The door opens and two nurses walk out. They eye both of us before scurrying past. My eyes fall on Wednesday whose eyes seem to be watering up.
I take a step towards her, about to ask a question, but she runs past me into the bathroom in Enid's room. What was that about?
My body turns back around down the hallway to watch those two nurses. What the fuck did she hear from them?
My feet walk me into the room as I stare at the bed. They drift to the bathroom door as I hear a loud groan and a couple of thuds.
Then, someone screams out in pain and sobs. My eyes widen as I run to the bathroom door and try to get in. She locked it.
Again. Fuck.
I start banging on the door. "Wednesday!" I yell. I continue trying to turn the knob.
"Leave." I hear a soft sniffle from the other side of the door.
I shake my head and continue trying to break down the door. "No! Open the door, now!" I scream out.
I hear a small click. No way... There's no way she listened to me.
I take a deep breath before slowly turning the knob. I walk into the bathroom, mentally preparing myself.
"Wednesday..." I say softly as I look around.
Blood is splattered on the walls. There are multiple holes in the wall too. Holy shit.
I finally look at the girl who is crouched up against the sink. Her knuckles are bruised and cut open, blood giving her hand a new look.
"What did you do?" I ask as I crouch down next to her, taking her hand in mine to examine it.
I already know the answer, I just want to hear her say it.
Wednesday can't look me in the eye. She looks to the side, tears slowly falling down. "You know what I did." She mutters.
I hum in response as I turn around to grab a first aid kit from under the sink. I nod. I do know.
"Why?" I ask, even though I know that answer too.
Wens doesn't answer me. I repeat myself but still get no answer. I wipe the blood away and put ointment on the cuts. I bandage her hand and once I'm finished, I use my hand to pull her chin towards me.
"What happened?" She looks me in the eye and I look back. I feel a sting in my hand as it falls away from her chin. Did she just smack me?
I watch as she stands and I stand after her. Suddenly, there's a tight grip on my wrist as I'm led out of the room.
Wednesday's POV:
I drag Yoko out of Enid's room and try to search for those two nurses. I'm going to confront them. I want to make sure I heard them right. I want Enid to wake up. She will wake up.
I eventually spot them as I storm over to them. "I want answers," I say, sternly, standing right next to them and catching their attention.
"Excuse me?" One of them says, obviously annoyed that I interrupted them.
"What were you guys talking about with Enid Sinclair?" I ask them, practically screaming in their faces.
They look at each other, one leaning in to whisper into the other one's ear. They pull away and give each other a look before turning back towards us.
Their eyes dart from me to Yoko as I raise my eyebrows, hurrying them up to speak. "Well, we are not supposed to tell you..." One of them trails off.
I give them the death stare. I will kill them if they don't.
"Alright!" The nurse yells out loud.
"Enid may not have a chance of waking up. The odds of that are extremely high and very rare. We are so sorry." She says as they both look down apologetically.
My mind freezes. I can't move, nor speak. I finally heard it for myself. I don't know what to do. What should I do?
Yoko cries out and falls into a ball on the ground. I feel tears begging to leave as well but I stop them.
This cannot be true. Enid WILL wake up. Right? I turn around and start to walk back to Enid's room. I'm hesitant, though.
So, I run out, away from Enid, away from everyone, into my own little island.
