Layla's POV:

I walk to my next class. As I arrive in the room, I take my seat. Weird, Yoko's not here. She's usually always here before me.

Time ticks by as I sit there, tapping my pencil on the table, waiting for her to walk through the door. The bell rings. Where is she?

I look around the room, maybe I accidentally missed her walk in or something. But then she'd be next to me.

The teacher turns his back towards us as he draws on the chalkboard. That's when I made my move. I race out of the classroom, quietly closing the door behind me.

Hopefully, no one will rat me out. I approach her dorm as I walk in, not finding her. I walk down to the library, she's not there either.

Where could she have gone?

Oh...

Shit.

I ran out of the school and tried to search for the principal's car. Not there, she took it. I have no other choice but to run.

Yoko's POV:

I feel hands on my back as I fall down to the ground. My quiet sobs block out the people speaking from all around me. Am I going to lose my best friend?

Tears fall onto the floor, creating a small puddle on the tiles. Why did this have to happen? It's all Gabrielle's fault. I'm going to kill her once I find her.

I hear some commotion to my side as I feel myself being lifted up. I feel arms around my body as I hug the person. I don't care who it is. I just need someone right now.

Wait, is this Wednesday?

I sniffle and wipe my tears away with my sleeve before pulling back. This isn't Wednesday...

"What are you doing here?" I ask the girl in front of me.

"Better question is... what are you doing here? You have classes." Layla says.

I look down at our feet, my hands still lying on Layla's shoulders. I shake my head. "Wednesday wanted to come. So I came with her." I say.

Layla nods before looking around. "Where is she anyway?" I turn my head and open my mouth, about to speak, but I don't. Wednesday isn't there anymore.

"Weird. She was just here a second ago." I say, my eyes searching around the hospital.

Wait, could she have run off? She definitely did, especially after what just happened.

"We have to find her," I say before dragging Layla out of the hospital.

"What happened? Are you okay? Why were you crying?" She asks the questions she forgot to ask in the building.

We reach the parking lot and break out into a run back to Nevermore, she has to be there. "The nurses said Enid may never wake up," I say, loud enough for her to hear.

Her jaw drops. "What?" She asks in disbelief and shock.

I ignore her as we run faster and faster back to Nevermore. Hopefully, Wednesday is okay and she didn't do anything.

Hope she isn't punching walls nor cutting herself. Nevermore comes into the distance as we slow our pace, trying to catch our breath.

We walk swiftly to the building as we enter through the doors. A gunshot is heard as people start to scream and run. What the hell?

Me and Layla scan the crowd of running kids for Wednesday. She's nowhere to be found. I turn to Layla and yell over the screaming.

"Go check the other hallways and the library. I'll go check her dorm." I say to her.

She nods before turning around and running away. I turn up the stairs, running down the hallway to Wednesday and Enid's dorm.

There are not many people here, so I can get there quicker. My hand touches the cold metal knob as I twist it, revealing what's on the other side of the door.

My body tenses up, I can't move. My eyes are glued onto the floor. My heart stops, I can't breathe.

Wednesday lies right at death's door in a pool of blood.

Sorry it's a short chap, it's part 1 out of 2. I just needed something to give y'all a cliff hanger.
