[Y/N]
Goddamn it, he is such an asshole.
if he thinks I am backing down now he is even dumber than he looks.
I am determined to show him my worth. Not that I feel the need to prove myself to him, but if it means he will back the fuck down then please.
In my current state, I can't deal with an authoritative dickhead as a Lieutenant. My mind is already racing when I'm calmed down due to my PTSD and he is only triggering me.
I slam my alarm to make it shut up. Price told me yesterday another comrade will pick me up for training. Let's hope he is a bit more mellow than my dear Lieutenant.
Just as I finish dressing, there is a soft knock on the door.
''Y/N, are you ready? I am here to pick you up''
There is a faintly familiar ring to his voice but I can't quite place it.
''You can come in'' I say as I bend down to grab my boots.
The door slowly opens, I don't look up as I step into my boots, locking them into place with the clasps.
''I can't believe it's really you''
That makes me spin my head around to face him. He looks at me, with a warm friendly expression. The short mohawk is the same as I remembered it, and his bright blue eyes light up as he sees me.
'''No way!'' i exclaim. ''Soap!?''
I chuckle as I run over to hug him. He lifts me slightly as he wraps his arms around me.
''I heard your name but I didn't think it would actually be you!'' He chuckles excitedly.
He looks at me. ''God, how long has it been?''
''I would say about 5 years..'' I chuckle. ''Amsterdam. My first solo mission..'' I shake my head as I reminisce. ''I was still a rookie back then.. thank god they sent you to back me up''
And not your Lieutenant.
Soap chuckles. ''Aye, you have really grown up.'' He says it with a certain warmth. Like a proud older brother. Even though I am pretty sure we are the same age.
''Tell that to your Lieutenant'' I sulk. Soap chuckles in response.
''He gave you a hard time didn't he?''
I shake it off. ''Nothing I can't handle.'' I smile at Soap. ''God it's so good to see you, finally a friendly face..''
Soap looks me over, his head a bit tilted. ''You do look different lass. I remember you being way more shy. But according to Ghost-..''
''He was telling you about me?'' I cut him off raising my eyebrows. ''Oh great, just great.'' I scoff annoyed.
Soap laughs as he shakes his head. ''Dont worry, he just told me because I asked.''
He pauses. ''By the way, he described you, I was sure it couldn't be you. Fiery, hotheaded, stubborn..'' he gives me a sly smile.
I scoff at Ghost's description of me. ''Oh, he said that huh?'' I grunt. ''Maybe he should look in the mirror for once..''
Soap smiles. Maybe even enjoying the fact I am getting a bit defensive.
''See? that attitude. Where did that come from?'' He doesn't ask it to pry I know that, there's a certain warmth maybe even concern. The truth is. I have changed since Four died. The world became a much darker place than it already was living the soldier life. My warm outgoing persona has died along with him. Not to mention the panic attacks holding me back from ever doing anything fun. I guess I build walls around me that no one can break. Not even Soap.
