I am so so sorry for the delayed upload. Due to a death in the family I couldnt get myself to focus. To make it up, here is an extra long chapter! <3 Thank you all for being so patient, lots of love!***

[Y/N]

The engine of the huge van roars as it enters the back entrance of the base. When you follow the garden's rose bushes all the way to the end, you will be met by huge metal gates. Usually guarded, but Laswell was instructed to have this area cleared.

The wind is icy cold as it whooshes through the trees lined along the metal fencing. I meet eyes with Laswell as I stand next to her, her blond hair in her signature bun. The air is heavy, the tension palpable. Laswell's radio got breached, as a low male voice told us to come here right after we left the armory. I would have searched for Night, or Ghost if Laswell did not insist on keeping me close. Her small pistol is clenched in her hand, her eyebrows furrowed.

My rifle weighs heavy in my hands, my strength still not back to how it used to be. But I am determined to not let it stop me as I hear the wheels of the van crunch on the gravel.

Every fiber in my body tells me Vince will step out of that vehicle. Who else would be so bold as to come right to us, to get what he wants? Or more, who he wants.

Night escaped. Ghost said he was on his way to us, but he is yet to show. The uncertainty sending a cold sweat down my spine. We shouldn't have separated. It's a distraction, a weakness. My index finger lingers on the button.
Two beeps. That's all he needs.

I am debating pressing them just for him to show up. Because if he doesn't.. I know for sure something is terribly wrong. He wouldn't hesitate to come to me.

Or maybe pressing them unnecessarily will disturb whatever plan he has come up with.

I jolt right out of my thoughts as I see one pair of leather red shoes exit the passenger side of the vehicle.

Vince is wearing the same dark red colored suit, his hair slick back. He adjusts his collar as the gravel crunches under his feet. A deafening silence follows as he stops a few feet away from us.

I don't hesitate as I immediately raise my rifle at him, my teeth clenched.

One bullet, that's all it takes to end this all.

Laswell's hand shoots up as she grabs the end of my rifle, giving me a warning look. The stare is enough to make me realize I won't have the chance to shoot him. Not before we know for sure if Vince really has captured Price and Soap.

Vince walks a bit closer to us, but stands still at a fair distance.

''I half expected to have a bullet in my brain right now.'' He taunts with a smirk. His eyes are gleaming, his scar a bright red in the light of the garden.

I growl, but before I can say anything Laswell steps forward.

Diplomatic as ever, she holds her hands up slightly to him. Calm, collected.
Everything I am not at this moment.

''We did what you asked. No guards. Now tell us what you are doing at our base.''

Her voice is soft, but still clear and stern. She is obviously trained to deal with a guy like Vince.

Vince looks her up and down, taking in her appearance. He nods to himself.
''Ah, Kate Laswell. Finally we get to meet.''

Laswell does not react, but keeps her gaze locked on Vince.
