[Ghost]
After about three hours we need to stop for gas.
Son of a bitch didn't even think to fill it up before we left.
I mutter some curse words as I park the car next to the pump.
''I'll contact Atlas while filling it up.'' Night says as he unbuckles his seatbelt. ''See if he found anything else about the place we are going..''
''Good call, let us know aye?'' Soap says. Night nods as he jumps out of the van.
I grab my smokes, jumping out of the van as I walk away.
''Where you going?'' Soap yells after me.
''Smoke.'' I grumble as I don't bother to look back at him.
Soap follows me as I light my cigarette. It illuminates my face as I walk in the pitch black darkness to the side of the gas station shop. Which looks like it has been abandoned for 20 years. The only other light source is the small beam of moonlight and one neon sign near the side of the road we just exited from.
The middle of nowhere, as they call it.
''Oh that's it huh?'' Soap says with a sly chuckle, the gravel on the ground crunching under his heavy boots. ''Or did you just need a break from your new favorite recruit?'' He smirks as he stands still next to me, letting his upper body lean against the wall.
I grumble some more curse words while I take the first inhale. The smoke hitting my lungs, brings me a bit more at ease.
I watch closely as I see Night starting to fill up the van. My eyes narrow when he slowly grabs his small radio, muttering something into it.
We are too far away to hear what he is talking about.
''Isn't it weird he waits for us to move away before he talks to this Atlas guy?'' I grumble, my eyes still trained on Night.
''This shit again?'' Soap grunts annoyed as his mood instantly shifts. ''God, can you just stop picking fights with him every chance you get? You're fucking paranoid man.''
''Don't ignore the obvious Soap, something is wrong about this guy.''
''You mean that he has a crush on y/n?''
My eyes leave Night instantly, as they shoot back to Soap, seeing the smug expression on his face makes my blood boil even more.
''We talked about this Johnny.'' I growl, warning him he is on thin ice.
''Talking about ignoring the obvious.'' Soap scoffs. ''Just admit you don't like him because he has a thing for her.''
''Wouldn't surprise me if that's the only reason he is rescuing her.''
''And what is your reason? And don't give me that 'she is my recruit and i am responsible for her'- crap.'' Soap says, his tone growing more stern.
I ignore his comment, taking another inhale from my cigarette.
''As I recall you would turn every stone in this world to find her.'' Soap says, his hands resting on his hips as he repeats my words.
I don't respond. Trying to keep my cool, before I lash out at him..
''Like you wouldn't do the same.'' I say cold.
''Aye, just be glad there is someone willing to help us do that.'' Soap says stern.
''If he wasn't so much of an asshole i actually would be glad, yes.'' I respond as my expression hardens.
