[Ghost]

I fling the towel around my neck as I exit the training area.

The sweat is pouring down my forehead as I use my sleeve to wipe it away from my eyes.

My chest protests against the heavy work-out I just finished.
The stitches are itching and burning as I make my way down the hallway, but I ignore it.

Soap still hasn't returned from his mission and I have been pestering Laswell everyday to give me more information about my attacker. She wouldn't tell me. Captain's orders. Too personally connected.

Bollocks.

We are so close to finding out Vinces location. He needs to be stopped as soon as possible. If this Vine really gets distributed soon, then innocent lives will be at stake and there is no tracing it. I've spent the last days trying to come up with a different strategy. What our earlier altercations with Vince taught me is that he is unpredictable. The fact he convinced Night to join his side makes me believe he has even more secrets we need to uncover. He went that far just to make y/n a part of his organization? Or is he recruiting more military members?

I don't even care what happens to Night. He is lucky Sarah and y/n are recovering.

Distracted by my thoughts I make my way down the hallways of the base.

As I turn the corner my blood suddenly runs cold, my body tensing up in response.

A young man with dirty blonde short curls and round shaped glasses is talking to y/n. Smiling widely, friendly. I immediately recognize him from her file.

Atlas. The remaining member of her old squad to make an appearance. Also the youngest. Specializes in the technical department of our field. Researching, hacking, tracking..

Night was in contact with him, tracking y/n when she was kidnapped.

The possibility of yet another member turning on her, makes me jolt forward in rage.

It doesn't take much strength for me to push Atlas away from y/n with the palm of my hand, as he immediately stumbles backwards.

''What the hell do you think you're doing!?'' Y/n exclaims, sounding baffled by my actions.

I ignore her, my eyes trained on Atlas as he stares back at me wide eyed.

''Stay away from her.'' I growl at him. The air between us is running cold.

Atlas is stunned, his eyes looking me up and down in a panic. It takes him a second to connect the dots, finally seeming to realize who I am.

''Lieutenant Riley.. my apologies i didn't mean to startle you, I-..''

''What are you doing here.'' I cut him off. My eyes narrow as my mouth is nothing more but a thin line. ''If you're looking for your little friend, we have another room just like it available for you.''

A threat. I won't make the same mistake with Atlas as I did with Night. I won't trust anyone anymore.

Atlas swallows as he holds his hands up in front of him,in surrender. ''N-no sir.. word reached our base that Sarah was recovering here. I-I wanted to see her, and ran into y/n..I swear..''

''Who let you in.'' I snarl, not buying his explanation.

''Miss Laswell, sir. She contacted our base to inform our Captain. She knows i'm here.''

Goddamn it, Laswell.

I let out a low growl, frowning deeply as I scan Atlas over.

No weapons, no armor. Just plain jeans, sneakers and a basic white shirt.
