(Note: Sorry about the delay, but vacation is over, and I'm back to daily writing)

Los Angeles, California, Alpha Earth

Mateo sat on the edge of his bed, fingers nimble as he tied his shoelaces. The anticipation of his new journey with the Valorant Protocol was palpable. It was a moment he had dreamt of, one that filled his thoughts and energized his spirit. But as he glanced around his room, the familiarity of it all began to weigh on him.

His mother, a hint of sadness in her eyes, watched him from the doorway. Her only child was about to leave home, embarking on a path that would take him far from her. She had been supportive, even excited for him, but as the moment drew near, loneliness crept into her heart.

Mateo could sense her unease. With a tender smile, he stood up and approached her. "Mom," he said softly, "I'll call you every day, okay? And I'll visit once a week. It's just... I've got to do this."

She nodded, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "I know, mijo," she replied, her voice trembling slightly. "I'm so proud of you."

Mateo hugged his mother tightly, savoring the moment. His four Radivore companions also shared the moment. The blue one nuzzled his cheek, the green chirped softly, and the red one brushed against his leg affectionately. But it was the little yellow Radivore who surprised everyone. It wrapped its tiny arms around Mateo's mother, nestling into her embrace. She blinked in astonishment, her surprise quickly giving way to a warm smile.

"Seems like they want to say goodbye to you too, Mom," Mateo said, his voice tinged with affection.

Tears welled up in her eyes once more, but this time they were tears of gratitude. She hugged the little yellow Radivore gently, realizing that her son was never truly alone on this incredible journey.

As the two made their way to the front of the house, the sound of a car pulling up to the curb caught their attention, and Reyna stepped out of the vehicle, greeting them. "Mateo, Maria. ¿Cómo estás? (Mateo, Maria. How are you?)"

Mateo's mother smiled and replied, "Estoy bien, Zyanya. Gracias por venir a buscar a Mateo. (I'm fine, Zyanya. Thank you for coming to pick up Mateo.)"

Reyna stepped closer and gave her a comforting hug. "Cuidaré de él, te lo prometo. (I will take care of him, I promise.)"

Tears welled up in Maria's eyes as she hugged Reyna back. "Gracias, Zyanya. Cuídate mucho a ti también. (Thank you, Zyanya. Take good care of yourself too.)"

With one final, heartfelt hug, Reyna and Mateo bid farewell to Maria and left the house and entered the vehicle.

As they sat in the vehicle, Mateo couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and nervousness. He turned to Reyna and asked, "So, are we heading straight to the Valorant headquarters now?"

Reyna glanced at him and replied, "Not quite, Mateo. Before we go to the headquarters, we need to make a stop at the K-SEC facility to rendezvous with Brimstone."

Mateo glanced back and asked, "What do we need to do there?"

Reyna's gaze was steady as she explained, "You need to clear your name. You're a refugee wanted by K-SEC. We need to ensure that you're no longer a target. Brimstone has a plan for that. Now, hide your friends."

Mateo looked at the four Radivores by his side and furrowed his brow in confusion as he glanced back at Reyna. "How? They're not as small as you think."

Reyna reached into the back seat of the vehicle and retrieved a peculiar sash bag. She handed it to Mateo, who examined it with curiosity. "What's this?"
