I pull the car to a stop at the Pelican Yacht club. My dad was a member, so the truck has a pelican sticker on it.

JJ opens up the car door and gets out, going round to the back to get the food for Luke.

Luke leans over to me. "Hey, why don't you tell your mom I said hi? Oh, wait.."

"Shut up." JJ hits his dad with the paper bag filled with food.

I decide not to give him a reaction, he's still laughing regardless as if he's so hilarious.

"Make it quick." I say over to JJ.

"Come on." JJ tilts his head and his dad follows after him.

"Hey, Luke." I call out the open window.

They both turn around.

I hold up my middle finger nice and high for him to see.

Luke was about to say something but JJ steps in front and pushes him. "Go. Go!"

I give him a pissy smile before taking my hand down.

They walk away into the club.

I cross my arms and lean back into the seat.

I hum a song in boredom.

"Hey!" A voice calls out.

"Well that was quick." I look over out the window again.

Nope, it's not JJ.

How the fuck did Tanner find me?

I stare blankly as he walks up to the truck.

"Darla? What are you doing here?"

"I swear you are literally everywhere." I huff.

He shrugs. "Well, I have a job here."

I blink. "Course you do."

He leans against the door. "What was that about, you disappeared at the bonfire, I never got to like.. say goodbye..?"

I scratch my nose. "Yeah, Tanner, you were brawling with JJ. Of course I disappeared."

"Well, he started on me. Don't even." He shakes his head.

I cross my arms. "If you're only here to prove to me that you were in the right then I've already stopped listening."

"What is he, your boyfriend?" He scoffs.

I fix my hair. "Bye, Tanner."

"Oh, so he's your boyfriend now?" He laughs, I see his hand gripped onto the rim of the window.

I turn to fully face him. "Yes."

I probably shouldn't have said that, regarding the fact that we haven't properly spoke since the kiss.

"What?" He stares directly at him.

"What? He's my boyfriend, move along."

He backs away from the door. "Well, if you're just gonna sit here and not have anything to do with the club then I'll have to ask you to leave."

I smile sarcastically. "I'm waiting on someone."

"Your boyfriend?" He sarcastically smiles.

I blink.

"You're also not in a proper parking space, so..."

I roll my eyes, restating my engine. "You really haven't changed."

"Changed? What's that supposed to mean!" he follows my truck as I reverse into one of the parking spots.

I power off the engine.
