Love grew more dedicated to get good grades in an attempt to not think of the jealousy she felt every time she thought about Lily and James. That jealousy turned into anger every time and she needed to let it out in private, where no one would see her; in the safety of the Room of Requirements. It cost her to know that her suspicions about James' feelings for Lily returning were right because now that she wasn't with James, she felt very sad. It was her first break up and it was a hard one. It had taken her a lot of self-convincing to date him for she was the spawn of Satan. As long as they were dating, she didn't feel like a nephilim and that felt good because she wasn't a monster for him. Though, he didn't know the truth.

Sirius was the person closest to her now. It was amazing that it wasn't so awkward to be with someone from that group. It was very awkward with James; something just felt off. It was like they owned each other one more chance.

''Earth to Love.'' Sirius said after calling her name twice. Love jolted up and turned to face the boy sitting next to her in the Library. ''What were you thinking?''

''Nothing.'' She said quickly, pushing the thought of her and James' relationship having one more chance much below the surface of her mind.

Sirius had seen that look on her face many times and on his best mate's face a couple of times as well. He felt bad for both, but didn't know what to do; James was really good with the redhead and he wasn't doing so good with Love. It had been two months and they were thinking of it, though. He sighed and squeezed Love's shoulder before turning back to his book.

''What did you want to say?'' Love asked as suddenly remembered that he had called her.

''What was that Charm against ghouls?'' He asked and Love replied the next second with ease. None of them talked for long, until they were almost done with their homework of that day when they heard some students talking as they just entered the Library. Unconsciously, the other students near the door raised their heads to see what caused the noise in such silence. Two of them were Sirius and Love and both of them felt sad when they saw James and Lily with bright smiles, holding each other's hands. Love felt bad because she wasn't over him yet and Sirius felt bad that the girl next to him saw. He loved James and he liked Lily a lot, she was a great girl, definitely one of the best people he had ever met and their relationship was bringing much joy to his friend, but Love was his friend too and it made him sympathise when she felt bad. When Sirius was with Love, he couldn't be as happy for his mate's happiness with the Head Girl.

...

Love ate breakfast in silence with her best friend. Louisa was still doing great with Peter and had a glowing aura that matched her happiness.

For the first time in a long time, both of the girls got mail that day. Louisa's family had written her a letter and the True Cross Order had sent an envelope to the exorcist. Love was waiting months for this. Being in a boarding school sure didn't help much with that job.

Louisa smiled at her best friend who put the envelope in her bag with a smile on her face as well. ''I am very proud of you, Love.'' The brunette said softly. She had never said that before. The black haired girl turned her face to stare at her best friend before Louisa continued. ''I know how difficult it has become for you to keep these secrets after dating James and all, but you still do it like everything is the same. I admire you sometimes.'' She admitted. ''And I'm very happy that you don't think of your species as an obstacle so much anymore.'' She smiled. After years of telling her best friend that she could do anything she wanted even if she was a half demon, she finally felt confident enough to do it. ''I am proud.'' She finished.

Loved smiled wholeheartedly. It was the first time Louisa had expressed her thoughts like that and the nephilim couldn't help but give her a hug. All that happiness turned into excitement when Love read the envelope's content. The mission was big and she fit like a glove there. Her demonic flames were probably the reason why they signed her up for this one and she took it as a hint about what to train first.

...

''This is dangerous.'' Louisa said in shock after reading the papers of the envelope the True Cross Order sent to her best friend. It was the most difficult mission she had seen Love getting sent to.

''It's an exorcist mission, Louisa; of course it's going to be dangerous.'' Love said calmly.

The brunette sighed. ''I don't know about this, Love. I don't have a good feeling.''

''Relax, Louisa.'' Love told her. ''You don't have to worry about it.''

The brunette couldn't help but feel worried. She got scared for her best friend and unconsciously spent more time with her. Usually she would talk with Peter before classes, but now she stayed with Love. The brunet boy didn't like it much since he had begun feeling more distant and awkward with the rest of the Marauders so his day didn't begun very well. It was the reason why he was angry until after lunch when Love went to work out. Louisa could tell Peter was moody by his uneasy silence. He was never one to talk much, it was usually the brunette that did the most chat, but she could tell something was off. ''What's wrong?'' She asked him.

''Nothing.'' Peter said with an obvious grumpy tone in his voice he couldn't help.

The brunette chuckled ironically. ''That's not nothing.'' She remarked.

Peter, feeling more confident around his girlfriend, felt the need to get his anger out. ''You've been hanging out with Love all day!'' He cried. ''She had to go work out to come and talk to me.''

''We've been together all these days and I was with Love only in the dorm and during some meals, what's with this burst?''

''I'm your boyfriend, you're supposed to want to spend time with me.'' He cried, feeling his insecurities drown him once more.

''I do want to spent time with you! What makes you think that I don't?'' Louisa defended. ''Love is my best friend. Isn't it normal to spent time with her too?''

Peter sighed. ''It is.'' He admitted quietly. It was easy for them to make up; they loved each other. They were quite the pair those two, but they had their fights rarely.

...

The cold air made Love's muscles tighten after walking out of the Room of Requirements. She begun walking faster so the December's weather along with her dried sweat wouldn't make her catch a cold.

Somewhere along the way to her Common Room, another Hufflepuff, one year older than her, spotted her petite frame in the Corridor he had just turned to. Eubanks smirked to himself and walked faster to reach the blue eyed girl. It impressed him how he struggled to walk up to her considering that he was at least ten inches taller. One step before getting to her side he greeted her with a mischievous voice. ''Hello, Love.''

Love turned and to her dismay saw the blond she didn't like after their first encounter. ''Hi, Edward.'' She greeted back, obviously not in a good mood to talk.

''Where are you heading?''

''My dorm.''

''It's a nice afternoon outside.'' Eubanks said. ''Why don't we take this walk to the grounds?''

''No, thank you. I want to get lazy.'' Love said bluntly.

Edward knew that she wasn't interested in him by the way she spoke, but he wanted to try harder. He wasn't interested in anything serious, but he wanted to have some fun. The nephilim on the other hand longed to reach the Common Room so she would go to her dorm where Eubanks would leave her alone.

She needed the vanilla scent of her shampoo to calm her down more than ever that week.
