The last time I saw you, you were boarding an airplane to go live with your grandmother.
I didn't know how to feel.
I was happy because you were safe. I was sad because you were leaving. I was sad because you didn't even hug me goodbye. I was sad because you wouldn't let me tell you that you were precious and amazing and strong and beautiful and that you didn't need to be afraid to let me in.
...I changed my mind. I knew how to feel. I was so indubitably sad.
