along the ocean

Later that night, we talked again over the phone. You asked me for my number before we boarded off for the school day, and I entered it into your contact list as fast as I could. Then, when we were on the phone, we had a question/ answer session involving the basic information necessities of a friendship.
Talking about our names:
You: What's your full name?
Me: Charlotte Marie Anderson.
You: Very unoriginal, Char.
Me: Char is original.
You: I suppose so. Mine is Everest Logan Rackowski.
Me: I've never heard of that surname.
You: I hadn't either, before it was mine.
Me: You weren't alive then, you dummy.
You: Precisely.
And our favorite colors:
Me: Okay, what's your favorite color?
You: Gray.
Me: Gray? That's bland.
You: It's sophisticated. Dramatic.
Me: But you have a colorful mind. Gray does not suit it.
You: Well, through my eyes, everything is gray. Besides you. You're very vibrant.
Me: I don't agree.
You: You will someday. I won't give up on you, Charlotte Marie!
Me: Good luck with that.
I never got to tell you my favorite color, though. It was blue, because I used to live along the ocean. It always gave me a sense of comfort, even when I was at my worst.
Maybe you would become my next ocean.
