Alright guys so yesterday I saw this post on Reddit called could Kiana beat Aeons and then I came across this conversation that in all honesty has to be one of the stupidest takes on powerscaling and writers I have ever seen. If you wanna know what I'm talking about well we're going to get into right now. I'm gonna try to make this quick so I can get this off my chest. I was originally going to post this yesterday but then deleted it but decided to do it again so if the photos you see are from different times that's because I had to gather some of the evidence again. So without further ado let's get started.
So the conversation starts off with him pointing out the scaling of (or at least his form of scaling) of how Herrschers and Aeons scale to and said the narrative wants to throw out established powerscaling for equal footing or what not.

It doesn't sound too bad at first but the problem comes in to the person who responded to him. Basically this guy over here said that Hoyoverse developers don't care about powerscaling saying it doesn't make any sense and also there some retcon. But what the first person said next is where shit started to go left. He said that if Hoyoverse didn't care about powerscaling they wouldn't have made Helia state Herrschers can destroy continents and that powerscaling goes beyond just feats and calcs and attempts to use Star Wars as an example to prove his point with the Death Star destroying planets while a fighter craft can't.

This is where the problem lies. Firstly just because they make statements Herrschers destroying everything or whatever the fuck doesn't mean that writers gives a fuck about powerscaling. This is a common thing that powerscalers like the first guy tend to ignore which is that power levels aren't created for the sake of powerscaling they do it for the sake of storytelling. With the Death Star destroying the planet part the only reason why George Lucas even did that is because the most likely is Lucas is trying to inform the audience via statements or showings of how terrifying the Death Star is. If George Lucas actually gave a shit about powerscaling then by that logic a random fighter craft is planetary because they fired at the weak spot to destroy the Death Star. So does that mean if a fighter craft aim's at a planet's weak spot does that man that fighter craft can destroy planets and are thus planetary? Or how about Darth Vader's statement when he says "The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force." Vader is one of the strongest Force user in history yet I've seen him lose fights to weaker characters before and a few occasions some of those people aren't Force users. So does that mean said people are also above planetary even though there were specific circumstances and reasons as to why Vader lost? You guys see the inconsistency as to what I'm saying. Most powerscalers tend to use the logic of "Oh because A person beat B person or this person destroyed this thing by hitting some weak point that means they are on that same level" This logic doesn't always make any sense while I won't deny that some of these scenarios make sense it's not always the case. For example just because Spider-Man beat Hulk that doesn't mean Spider-Man is around Hulk's level. So if the writers did care about powerscaling they would use the same logic most powerscalers use and given how inconsistent powerscaling has become you can clearly see why you never see any logical writer doesn't get involved.
