For years people like to say that using powerscaling logic in a story that matters especially you want a believable and I'm here to tell you now that's not true at all. The only way for a story to be believable you have to remove plot armor.
Plot armor is the thing that actually pisses off powerscalers because they realized that if the dig deeper into this they'll realize some of the characters' greatest feats that they've been analyzing for years would not have happened if plot armor didn't intervene. Like for example look at Dragon Ball Super during the Tournament of Power where the Z-Fighters are all participating and battling against some of the strongest beings in the verse. We see people like Androids 17, 18, Roshi, and even Krillin holding their own against guys who can destroy and reach galaxy or higher levels of power even flat out defeating them and 17 ended up being the last one standing. All of those are impressive feats but let's be honest the only reason they lasted as long as they did was because of plot armor because not once did any of them train to face off against god like beings. Outside of Goku and Vegeta at least Gohan and Piccolo trained so them holding their own against stronger foes makes sense but that's not the case with the others because not once did we see them go through extensive training let alone the same kind of training Goku and Vegeta went through which means if it wasn't for plot they all would've been instantly one shot and eliminated instantly. We can take into more examples of plot armor by looking at characters like Batman and Spider-Man where we see them do shit such as dodging Darkseid's Omega Beams and beating the Hulk but the problem with those scenes is that they are unrealistic because without plot armor Darksied would've incinerated Batman with his beams and Hulk would've destroyed Spider-Man in a fight. The reason why powerscaling logic doesn't work in a storytelling sense is because that type of logic often leads to confusion and situations that don't make sense and because logic wouldn't exist without plot armor. This is why Stan Lee is right when he says the script writer decides who wins because what he's essentially saying is that if the script writer wants a certain character to win they will go to extreme lengths to ensure they win even if that meant giving them massive amounts of plot armor to do so which is terrible writing but at the end of the day it's irrelevant because that's what the writer wants. Without plot armor, powerscaling would not exist so if you want powerscaling to matter you have to get rid of plot armor but you won't do that because most of the stories we've come to love would never have happened because by powerscaling logic and without plot armor, the main character loses to the main villain which leads to a much darker ending. Plot armor walked so powerscaling can run so I'd definitely say get rid of plot armor and then powerscaling matters realistically.
But let me know what you picked in the comments below.
