- create a routine -
Nothing will be accomplished if you don't set a schedule, and follow a routine to treat acne.- wash your face daily -
Wash your skin once in the morning, and once before you go to bed. I suggest you use a foam cleanser!- facial cleansers -
Facial cleaners have gentle, yet effective formulas. standard soap is usually too sore, and may irritate your skin.- DON'T pop your pimples -
I feel you with this one, I'm constantly picking at my pimples, and it isn't helping at all. scratching at acne and popping your pimples will cause inflammation and scarring, which may cause more acne!- moisturize your skin -
After washing your face, apply moisturizer to prevent your skin from drying out. not moisturizing can run the risk of clogging pores with dead skin cells!- salicylic acid, a girl's best friend -
Look for this in all of your face washes! The ingredients help regulate the pH balance of your pores, and help keep them clear!- degreasing pads -
Wipe those in places that are most likely to get clogged with sweat; forehead, nose, chin, etc!| Life style changes |
- protect your skin from the sun! -
Avoid exposing your skin to the sun too much, it can damage your skin and clog pores! double up on sunscreen, and wear hats for best protection!- get plenty of sleep -
Sleep regulates the body's hormones and also reduces stress. aim for 6-8 hours or more every night!- acne fighting food -
Sadly, food high in fat can increase the rate of which acne spawns, so try and add the following into your diet;
~water, fruits, vegetables
~foods rich in omega3: salmon, eggs, walnuts, etc.
~foods rich in flavonoids: lettuce, citrus fruits, cabage- stay active -
Exercise regulates hormones, and many acne problems are caused by hormonal shifts. Some exercises include:
-playing sports
-lifting weights
-going for runs
-biking
-going for walks
You could even make it a challenge while multitasking, like if you're watching a show or YouTube. When someone says their 'catch phrase' or swears, challenge yourself with three sit-ups!
