When time stopped

"Meredith are you really pregnant?" I asked speechless
"Yea about 6 weeks I'm surprised you haven't realised" she replied
"I can't believe it have you had the scan yet"
"No not yet have you had yours" she asked
"No there was an emergency so I let them take it but I got a call from and old friend David he and his wife Jen are moving to Seattle and they asked me to put in a good word here for them but I'll tell you more later" I replied rambling on due to my excitement
"Are you ready" the nurse asked and we both nodded
"Ok here we go"
The nurse put gel on Mer's belly and started spreading it with the scanner.
"Mom, Dad there's your baby congrats" the nurse said as a huge smile grew on my face.
Five minutes later the nurse rubbed off the gel and left to collect the pictures.
"Well this day couldn't get any better" Mer said tying her shoes
"I love you" I said hugging her
"I love you too Derek and I'm so glad I chose you to spend the rest of my life with and I....." She said before she was interrupted by my phone it was a text from David.
"About an hour away from landing would we be able to stay with you and Meredith until the house is ready?"
"It's David he is wondering if he could stay with us for a while until their house is ready" I asked putting my phone away and helping her with her coat.
"Ok yea since George and Alex moved out we have room but we better go for your scan" she said taking my arm.
"Mer I'll go myself you go lie down I'll come get you when I'm done ok"
"Ok I love you" she said kissing my cheek
"Love you too" I replied limping away with my stick
30 minutes later
"Callie what's the news" I asked
"Derek have you had some discomfort in your leg" she said
"Yea a lot why?"
"You have a tumour on the bone of your knee and it's pretty spread out" she replied and I went from happy to thinking my life stopped
"Is it going to spread"
"I don't know we'll need to do more tests but we have your blood so we'll do it"
"Don't I need time" I said limping out
"Derek don't do this don't walk out again" she shouted after me
"Oh your a hypocrite Callie how many times have you walked out on Arizona? How many times have you broke her heart? You don't get to tell me bad news and then tell me not to take space to think about you don't" I yelled
"Derek sweetie what's wrong" Meredith asked coming out of the on-call room
"Meredith come into the conference room" Callie said and she followed
"Derek come here" Arizona said and I followed as she walked to the roof.
When we got up there I broke down.
"Derek what's wrong" she asked placing a hand on my back
"Well I've just had a terrible day first my wife tells me she's pregnant which was great and then Callie tells me I have a tumour growing on my bone and that the injury made it worse" I said as she pulled me into a hug.
"It's ok Derek, it's ok I know how you feel remember I only have one leg so I know how you feel but you need to stay strong ok. Not just for yourself but for Meredith as well and for Chris you don't want to lose them or the baby so you need to stay positive and get through it" she said as I calmed down a bit
"Ok thank you" I replied hugging her
"Let's go see Meredith" she said guiding me out the door.

❤️ Well the next chapter will be how Meredith and Derek deal with the news so a lot of sad scenes coming up also the new characters will be coming in and will be staying.
❤️ The speech that Arizona gave Derek was actually something I said to my best friend when his sister died in combat but I tweaked it a bit so that came from the heart.
