Chapter 30 : Finally at the starting point

Akame P.O.V

I walked away from the scene. My heart felt heavy. Kimimaro was dead while Gaara and Lee lay sprawled on the ground. Such a pity that things have to be so complicated. Sabaaku no Gaara, you still have a long life to lead...Naruto brought you out of your darkness once. May you never fall into darkness ever again. And...stay away from Sasuke until he is released from his darkness.

It had started raining. I put on my black cloak and proceeded towards the hideout. Murasame was quite excited due to the aura of blood in the air. I ignored it's blood lust and walked towards the hideout. 

Oh my way...a gruesome sight met my sight. Uzumaki Naruto lay sprawled on the cold ground. The rain lashed out on his defeated body. His face had an expression of pure despair. Standing above him was Uchiha Sasuke. His face was remarkably close to the blonde haired ninja. He slowly removed his Konoha forehead protector, made a slash against it with his kunai and placed it beside Naruto's cold body.

I could feel it...Naruto wasn't dead but he was barely living. If someone didn't come for him quickly, Naruto might just as well die out of sickness.

Akame: Are you ready to move on, Uchiha Sasuke?

Sasuke: I am.

For all I knew, he might have been crying but the rainwater mixed with his tears and hid his emotions. He slowly pulled out his own cloak and  draped it around his shoulders.

Sasuke: What happened to the sound five?

Akame: Killed.

Sasuke: I see.

'I see'. That was it. He said nothing else. His words troubled me. There is a difference between 'emotionless' and 'darkness'. What he would need was a state where he could easily control his emotions...but instead he was falling into the darkness.

Akame: One final thing before we go...if you cannot promise me this, I shall overrule our contract and kill you on the spot.

Sasuke: Hn.

His eyes glared slowly into mine. This 'Hn' meant 'go on'. He actually had a murderous look on his face. Does he think I'll betray him after we got so far?

Akame: You shall not kill those who are not involved with your revenge. You shall merely train to lock your emotions and improve your abilities. On no account shall you ever sympathize with Orochimaru's ideals. You shall never undertake missions for him. You shall never kill or hurt the innocent. You shall not hide anything from me. When I say run, you run. Why I say leave me behind, you shall do so with no questions asked. I vow to never get in the way of your revenge.

Sasuke: Before I accept, I have a few conditions for you. You shall never betray me. You shall never go against my commands. You shall not cloud my judgement. You shall never let factors other than revenge affect me.

Akame: As long as you fulfill your end of the deal, I shall fulfill mine.

Sasuke: Hn.

Kabuto: Ah! Sasuke. Akame. It is such a pleasure to welcome you to our humble abode!

Akame: No tricks. We wish to see Orochimaru.

Kabuto: No, No, No...that attitude will not work here. In this place, he is Orochimaru-sama.

Akame: Your master invited us. He is merely a tutor for Sasuke. Nothing less and certainly nothing more. If you know your place, the you will not question it, Yakushi Kabuto.

kabuto: I see. Well Orochimaru-sama will entertain you in a while. Please wait until then.   

Sasuke was completely silent. I made no attempts at conversation as well. The atmosphere of the place was getting to us.

Kabuto: So where are the sound five?

Akame: Dead.

Sasuke looked like he was surprised at how flat my voice sounded but this was quite easy for me. I was trained by the imperial to be emotionless. Kabuto seemed shocked at how unaffected I was about deaths. Show no weaknesses. Despite the fact that I may or may not be able to match up to Orochimaru, I will be more than a match for Kabuto.

They need to know that they cannot put a scratch of Sasuke as long as I am there.

Sasuke: Akame, did you hear something?

Hear? Hear what? Then if became conscious of the sounds of footsteps...innumerable footsteps.

Akame: As expected.

An army of deformed experiments. Does Orochimaru intend to test Sasuke's strength? Sasuke fought Naruto in the second stage of the curse mark. Orochimaru was sure to know it. If not Sasuke, is he...testing me?

Akame: Freezing blade!

I made quite a lot Ice shards and made them pierce right through their chests. They were the same as the ones I encountered during the Konoha invasion.

It brought a pang of sadness to me, it brought memories of the looks my team gave me. Naruto was shocked. Sakura turned sick while Sasuke had turned his face away.

The more I cut, the more there was to cut. He'd better not think of me as a disposal system.

The numbers were too high. There was only one way to defeat them quickly.

Akame: Let me show you how I saved you from death, Uchiha Sasuke. Possess me, Murasame.

Sasuke's eyes widened in shock as he saw my possession mode. Marks that very closely resembled curse mark shot up my arm. My sclera turned pitch black while my irises retained their blood red color. I looked not unlike a demon.

Orochimaru: A splendid display of skill.

Akame: Is that why you sent them? To test me?

Orochimaru: Well I had to get my precious vessel a bodyguard and you are more than strong enough to occupy that role besides...

Akame: You wanted to know who took out your entire army of deformed men during the invasion.

Orochimaru : Of course. But...is your possession mode similar to the curse mark?

Akame: No. Other than the contractor, no one else can wield the imperial arms. Only death awaits those who are cut down by Murasame. You know that first hand don't you?

With one scratch I had managed to kill his host body. He had to use the body of some woman later as a vessel.

Akame: Remember...one false move and I might decide to train Sasuke myself. I might be incapable to teach him ninjutsu but I can more than sufficiently be his taijutsu and kenjutsu instructor.

Orochimaru: Of course. I will keep in mind...but in this hideout, I am still the one who holds power. Don't overstep your boundaries. Here, you shall serve as Sasuke's bodyguard and tutoring him in the two skills you 'oh so sweetly' illustrated about.

He walked away from there and Kabuto led us to Sasuke's room. Sigh...it is going to be a long, long time. I hope you can leave the snake's cove without getting tainted, Uchiha Sasuke...
