A few hours later Lauren rolled her body over moving her arms right into the couch. "Ouch." she groaned opening her eyes, turning her body to see the pile of clothes gone, toys cleaned up and flowers placed in the middle of the table the way she wanted them. Under the flowers she saw a note in Bruno's boxy printed handwriting.
Have a good nap. I took the babies for a walk. I have my phone. I know you'll worry.
Bruno Mars
"Did he really just sign that like an autograph?" she half laughed reaching for her phone to call him.
"Hey mama." she heard him answer.
"Is this Bruno Mars?" she asked him joking. "Because I have a note on the table from a Bruno Mars."
"Did I really do that?" he asked slightly embarassed.
"Yeah. Now watch it. I'm going to start selling these." she said with a laugh stretching out on the couch. "Where are you?"
"I went home to get some things. I'm on my way back." he said glancing at the clock. "It's almost 6....are you hungry?"
"Wow. I really did sleep a long time." she said to him hearing the babies start to talk to each other in the back seat.
"You needed it." he told her turning around to see the babies at the stoplight near her apartment.
"Did you take my car?" she asked. "You couldn't have gotten the car seats in yours..."
"I just might have." he said glancing at the gas. I'm going to get her gas too...he thought to himself at the same time eying the dinner items he had purchased to cook dinner for her.
"I figured." she said with a smile. "Bring my babies home. I miss them." she finally told him.
"I'm almost home. I have one more thing to do." he replied.
"I'm having baby withdrawals. Hurrryy." she whined looking over at the pile of pictures she needed to put in a scrapbook.
"I'll be there soon, babe." he said to her.
"Okay." she paused for a second trying to figure out how to finish the conversation. "Be safe." I love you. She thought before saying anything.
"I'll be there soon, Elle." he said. I love you. He thought without saying it to her hanging up the phone getting out of the car to put gas in the car.
"Well, I guess I should get their things ready for dinner...." she said to herself stretching out putting away the blanket that had just recently covered her body. She distracted herself in the extra small kitchen pulling out baby snacks and cutting up vegetables. She looked into the refrigerator pulling out a three day old rotissiere chicken to cut into pieces for the twins to eat on their own. She was starting to see that the two of them were able to pick the food up and put in their mouths more times than not now. She laughed when they struggled with the food trying to figure out exactly where it went or what it was. Ezra stared intently at the food almost staring it down before eating it. Everlee, on the other hand, could care less and would put anything in her mouth, or she would try. She knew that she was going to have problem with her picking things up off the ground when she started to walk. She already had to be careful when she was trying to crawl. She lost herself in the thoughts jumping when she heard the door open. "Holy crap." she jumped hearing the babies crying. She quickly walked toward Bruno to see what was wrong.
"It just started. I think I woke them up..." he said to her.
"No, they're hungry." she told him picking Ezra up. "It's time to eat, bubba...." she smiled at him kissing his cheek. "Let's go eat..." she said moving him to the side of her hip at the same time picking Everlee up. "And you too..." she said leaning down to kiss her daughter's nose forgetting that Bruno was standing right there. Why does she do that? He wondered watching her take the babies and set them down.
