Chapter 72
"That's them! I swear!" Alana yells. I feel a tear fall down my face, this is the end, I'll never see my daughter again, they want me gone, that's probably why we are back in the games. I'll make sure Peeta wins. I begin to untie myself from the tree.
"Katniss what are you doing?" Peeta asks.
"Please try to get back to Willow, make sure she knows I love her." I say, I'm about to jump from the tree with my bow, creating a distraction so that Peeta can get away alive, unlike me. Peeta grasps my arm, trying to stop me, but I swing around and pull him close, crashing my lips into his, moving them in sync with one another. When I pull away I can see the sadness in his eyes, he doesn't want me to leave, he wants to know I'm safe in the end, but we both know that I won't let that happen, he knows that I will make sure he runs and doesn't come back for me.
"Goodbye Peeta." I say kissing his forehead before jumping down.
