Chapter 74
I feel my heart slowing, my eyes becoming heavy as I am unable to breath any longer from the weight Slate pushes hard into my throat. But the second the weight is released and the chanting to kill me stops, I fall to the ground, gasping and coughing as I try to get air into my lungs.
"Come on." Someone commands, taking my hand and getting me to my feet. I try and run but continuously trip. My body is swooped up and I am carried bridal style, I only catch a glimpse of the blonde curls before I black out.
•Peeta's POV•
I can't let Katniss die like this, sacrificing herself for me to get away. I run back and throw Slate off Katniss who's barley holding into life, gasping to try and get air back in her lungs. I quickly grab her bow off the ground and throw it over my shoulder then run over to Katniss.
"Come on." I command, taking Katniss' hand and pulling her to her feet. We try and run but she continues to trip, so I scoop her up in my arms and keep running, I notice she looks up at me before her eyes close and I think she's gone, I've lost the one I love the most.
