'You should've known better than to mess with me, honey.'

Iggy Azalea – Black Widow

I come out of the restroom, grinning at my slutty look.

"What do you think?" I ask, walking over to the table.

"Hmm, it's close. Not quite slutty enough. I think you need more eyeliner." Rebekah mutters.

"I'm gonna need your clothes." I tell her.

"Yeah, that's gonna happen." Garnet says sarcastically.

"Fine. Your bracelet, watch, earrings. Hand them over." I hold my hand out expectantly. Garnet starts taking off the jewellery, handing me them.

"And your other bracelet."

"That's her daylight bracelet. It's daytime outside. She's gonna need it. Besides, it's not gonna work on you." Katherine says.

"Fine. I really am gonna need that jacket, though." Garnet doesn't move, so Rebekah pulls it off her and throws it to me.

"This will never work, you know. The bad haircut, the doe eyes. You'll never pass for me." Garnet snarls.

"You'll never pass for me." I mimic the bitch.

"Throatier, more mannish." Elena giggles.

"You'll never pass for me." I mimic again, but with more attitude.

"You three are pathetic." Garnet hisses.

"You three are pathetic." I mimic her.

"Oh, perfect. Just the right level of contempt and hidden insecurity." Rebekah mocks.

"Almost there. Something's missing." Elena says and I look under the table.

"Your shoes. I want your shoes."

**

"Garnet." I turn around, surprised at the familiar man. Elijah. em. E.M. Elijah Mikaelson.

"Elijah. You're a little late, aren't you?" I question, covering up my surprise.

"You coloured your hair." He strokes it, "I like it."

"Thank you. It's actually gonna—" Elijah interrupts me by kissing me. He's actually a good kisser. I guess Garnet is right, uptight on the outside, Christian Grey on the inside.

"I missed you."

"And I've missed you."

"This is an interesting little town you've chosen to settle down in. So do you have it with you?"

"Do I have what?" I question.

"The cure." He replies. His eyes flicker to my daylight necklace. Crap.

"It's in a safe place. Why don't I go and get it and I'll bring it back?" I start to walk away but Elijah grabs my arm.

"Where's Garnet, Scarlet?" Elijah asks, pulling me along.

"Why would I tell you?"

"Because I asked nicely." Elijah answers.

**

He hangs up.

"You're both idiots." I say.

"Excuse me?"

"Ugh. What happened to you, Elijah? I mean, I thought you were supposed to be a man of honor, and yet you've been hooking up with slutty Garnet this entire time?"

"Well, I suppose this man of honour always shared a connection with Garnet. She contacted me when she learned about the cure. We thought we could be of mutual use to one another."

"'Of mutual use?' Please. You fell for her trap just like every other one of those idiots." I scoff.

"You underestimate me, Scarlet. I know who she is. I know what she's done."

"And you think she's changed? She's playing you. She lied to you, Elijah." I snap.

"She didn't lie to me about the cure. You're not just a vampire, though, are you? There's something else. You...you're not yourself. You've abandoned your emotions again. Why?"

"My brother's dead. Your girlfriend killed him." Elijah seems shocked at this, "You didn't know? Of course you didn't."

"She lied."

"I hate to say I told you so, but...duh!" I roll my eyes.

"I know what it feels like to lose a brother. And I'm sorry for your pain. I...I only hope that you can find your way back to yourself someday."

"Just like you hope Garnet will find her way back? You still think that innocent girl you saved from Klaus ages ago is in there somewhere?"

"I'd like to think so, yes."

"She's not. She's a monster now, Elijah. The sweet peasant girl you fell in love with way back when is dead. And she's not coming back."

"I'm not a fool, Scarlet. Of course this has occurred to me, but what kind of man would I be if I didn't try to find my Garnet beneath this...façade?"

"You boys are all the same. The boys keep thinking I'm still in here somewhere."

"You can't blame them for having hope, Scarlet. It'd be a shame if the world lost a soul as true as yours."

Suddenly someone attacks me from behind, snapping my neck, darkness enveloping me.
