Chapter 49

Screams. That's all she heard when she got downstairs. She couldn't help but laugh as the girls came up and hug her only letting go when Lucas growl at them. They all petted her belly gushing at how big she was. She didn't know if she felt insulted or not.

'Look at you all round and all with my grandbabies.' Carmen said as she hugged her. At least Alexis knew that she had her blessing and that she was okay with her being pregnant with her son's babies. It surprised her when even Alandro came up and gave her a hug. 'How are you feeling dear? Do you need anything?'

Alexis blush as she nodded 'Something to eat, a glass of milk and water would be nice. Thank you.' She told her. Carmen left the living room then with her husband following her. Lucas carried her to the coach and placed her on his lap no matter how much to tell him she could sit by herself. 'I can't believe I have been out for two weeks, I really miss a lot of school. Where is Jake? Oh and Carlos and Luke?'

'Jake will be here soon. And why are you inquiring about Luke and Carlos?' Lucas asked as he tightens his hold on her possessively.

Alexis had to laugh 'They are my friends. You know, the first time I met them they were actually naked. I mean really naked...'

'You saw another man naked?! I'm going to kill them!' Lucas shouted actually setting her aside to get up. Really?

'Don't be ridiculous. Sit down...' It surprised her when he listened. He really did look like he wanted to do some damage to both guys hence the anger he held on his face a minute ago. He scoped her up back in his arms and she snuggled deep with a contented sigh.

Carmen came back with a tray load of food minutes later. She placed it in her lap and she saw that it was fried rice and curried chicken with mash potatoes and a salad bowl. Alandro place her water and her milk on the centre table. She didn't waste any time but dug right in.

Everyone was chatting and doing their own thing. Javier and the guys were playing video games while the girls cheered them on, well except Kara and Lily. They were in the corner with their heads together whispering, occasionally sneaking glances at her 'What are you guys talking about and why do you keep peaking at me?' She asked as Carmen took her empty plate from her. The food was delicious and she ate everything. She rubbed her belly in satisfaction and sighed happily when Lucas joined in.

'You will love it Ali,' It was Marcus who said that without taking his eyes off the TV screen. 'They are planning your shower.' The room erupted as the girls all send curses and glares towards Marcus.

'It was supposed to be a surprise.' Lily yelled at him.

'Nice going idoit.'

'Hey!'

Alexis chuckled at their little banter 'Can I ask you something?' Lucas asked quietly from behind her ignoring the ruckus in the room.

'Yeah sure.'

'How long has it been since Jack has been abusing you?' The whole room quieted then and she stiffened in his arms. She had completely forgotten about Jack and the fact that he was the one who put her in a coma.

'Where is he?' She asked barely above a whisper.

'He is in prison. He can't hurt you anymore.' Lucas arms tightened around her 'Tell me how long?'

Does it matter if she tells him or not? What if Jack comes out again and come after her? He had been locked up once when she was 11 and someone had post bail for him. Sighing she decided to just let it go 'Since my mother died. He would get drunk and beat the crap out of me. He use to hit Jake too but when Jake decided to fight back he focused back on me. I couldn't do anything; he can practically lift me up with a pinkie. Jake always fights him off me some of the time though.' Lucas put her back on the couch and started pacing. She could clearly see how angry he was.

'Why didn't you tell me? The first day you came to school you were in pain...'

She nodded kind of scared the way he was staring at her 'I had crack rib but it was nothing...'

'NOTHING! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?!' He shouted at her and she burst into tears. She didn't like when he shout at her. 'Baby I'm sorry. I'm not angry at you I'm pissed off at your step-father.'

'I don't like when you yell at me, the babies don't like it either.' She sniffled burying her nose into his warm chest. 'It wasn't so bad when I moved here. He wasn't home most of the time.' She wondered if she should tell him that Jack was the reason she got kidnapped. Taking a deep breath she continued 'Remember when I got kidnapped?' She felt him stiffen below her 'Well Jack's brother got in some trouble with some drug dealer and well they wanted money. Jack didn't have enough so he offered me up as part of the payment. That's why they took me...'

They room erupted in gasp at what she told them. Surprisingly Lucas didn't say anything and she took a peak up at him to see that his eyes had gone completely black. She jerked away from him in fright at what she saw. There was no white in his eyes. 'Your eyes....t-they...'

'Lucas calm down.' She watched paralyzed as he put his hands on his head as if trying to stop it from exploding. When he looked back at her his eyes were back to normal and he stared at her sheepishly.

'I want to go home.' She whispered. It was safe to say that she was scared shitless. She would rather just pretend she didn't see and maybe everything will go back to normal.

What the hell is going on? She had seen his eyes darken often when he was angry or aroused but never like that. Lucas tightened his grip on her when she started to get up. 'Now...please...' What was he? Was something wrong with him? She sighed with relief when he let her up and went to sit across from her staring at her with pleading in his eyes.

'Stay and I will explain everything okay?' Lucas pleaded. She didn't know what to do but...she at least owed him right? He smiled when she nodded. Then he looked around at everyone nervously. She did the same and saw that they all looked nervous. Okay? 'Well...um you see...my family and I well...wearewerewolves and youaremymate.' Lucas rushed at looking at her expectedly.

What did he say? It sounded like he said they were werewolves and she was his mate. She laughed at herself because she knew her interpretation was definitely wrong 'I didn't catch that. It sounded like you said you were all werewolves and that I was your mate, which is completely ridiculous.' She laughed at herself again

'That's what I said and why would you being my mate ridiculous?' Lucas asked incredulously. He almost looked offended.

'I didn't say I found the mate part ridiculous...what am I talking about? What are you talking about?' At this point she was totally confused. Here she had him telling her that he and his family were werewolves. What kind of a joke is this? It definitely didn't get any crazier than this. She looked around and saw that they were all dead serious. 'You're serious aren't you? But I don't understand?'

She definitely didn't understand. Why wasn't she freaking out and bursting down the door to try and get away? She searched deep inside her for the fear she should be feeling but didn't find any. Only mild anxiety and a growing curiosity to know if what he say was actually true 'Can you show me?' Maybe they will all started laughing and say "Gotcha" .This whole scenario was so out of this world.

She watched nervously as Lucas nodded to Xavier and he got up taking off his shirt 'Okay what are you doing?'

'I don't want to ruin my shirt.' He told her giving her a wink. She had to laugh. Okay...Before her very eyes she watched as he crouched over his muscles got bigger and his skin started to recede leaving hair in its wake and before she could even quint a large brown wolf stand in front of her. She got up and stand on the couch moving backwards from it.

She didn't realised she was screaming until she felt Lucas beside her hushing her and promising her safety. She couldn't take her eyes off the big furry animal standing in the living room looking tame as ever. This cannot be happening. Maybe she was still in a coma?

'I-Is t-that Xavier?' She stuttered as she took deep breaths to calm her racing heart. Cautiously she sat down and the wolf came up next to her and she began to move back when it started moving towards her.

'He won't hurt you I promise.' Lucas said from beside her, she felt a little bit better with him there. Xavier came and she gradually touched his coat. It was then she realised that she had seen him before. He was there when fluffy came to visit her but...but who were the other three?

'You came to visit me with fluffy Xavier?' She smiled slightly when he nodded and knew instantly that he won't hurt her after all. She just hugged him when she heard a growl from behind Xavier and looking around she saw that Becca was actually growling at her.

'We are very possessive creatures love and would you mind letting him go now.' Lucas said in amusement but she could hear how dead serious he was. She let him go and he ran upstairs. 'He's going to put some clothes on.' Lucas answered her unspoken question.

Everyone was silent and staring at her expected. She really didn't know what to think. All this time her boyfriend and friends were werewolves and she was with then all the time blissfully unaware that the things that go bump in the night were actually real. 'So you are a werewolf?' She asked Lucas silently. She looked at him and saw that he was staring at her with awe before he nodded. 'What?'

'I'm wondering why you're not screaming and running to the woods.'

'I'm wondering the same thing. You said something about mate? What is that?'

'It means you're my soul mate, you were made for me as I was made for you.' He explained slowly as he nuzzled her neck. Soul mate? Wasn't that something Hollywood made up to fool people into believing they actually exists. Then again they also made up werewolves and they actually exist. 'Xavier and Becca are mates, so are Javier with Lily and Marcus with Selene. Mom and dad are too. You will meet a ton of mated couples around her.'

Alexis had to commend herself. She was taking all this pretty well. 'And you and me?' She felt him nodded. There were so many questions going around in her head. 'Explain the mate thing again.'

She didn't hear any impatience in his voice 'A soul mate is the only person you will ever truly love. She is the one that was made for you and once you find her its instant attraction. You will do anything to be with them and it's fairly hard to not mate them. Remember the stories that Marcus and the others told you? Well they mated almost the second they met.'

'Mated?' she asked confused.

'Ah have sex and some biting is involved. I'll explain the rest later.' Lucas responded. Oh...

How come they mated so quickly? Lucas didn't even like her in the beginning... 'When did you know that I was your mate?' Maybe he didn't know she was his mate and that was why it had taken so long for him to mate her. Lucas seem to stiffen behind her as if he knew where she was heading with this conversation. 'I want the truth...'

'From the first day you came to school and I smelt your scent. That's how we find our mates; there scent is addictive to you and only you. It drives you crazy with need and it takes over your senses wanting to claim the one who it belongs to...'

He had known from the very first time he saw her? If it drove him that crazy how come he had never made any move towards her? As she recalled correctly he didn't like her very much and treated her like dirt. 'Is it some werewolf thing to treat their mates like dirt? Oh wait, it's not since all the others are practically love stories.' She moved away from him to stare him in the face. She put at least two feet between them.

'Alexis I...'

Then it clicked 'Oh my God, you didn't want me did you?' She gasped in horror. Of course, it explains so much. He never wanted her, he even fought against fate or destiny or whatever. It didn't get any clearer than that. Her heart break at that little fact, she was supposedly his soul mate and he never wanted her.

'No!' She burst out into tears at that 'I mean yes...of course I wanted you...it's just that...'

'No you didn't.' she sobbed and slapped his hands away when he tried to touch her. 'Don't touch me.'

'My wolf did...'

'Your wolf? What about the human side of you?' She could see the truth in his eyes and her heart break even more. 'You promised you wouldn't hurt me again.' she whispered brokenly. Even though she knew it was going to tear her apart she wanted to know everything. She whip her tears away, wanting a clear head for the damn mess she was in. 'Tell me why you started dating me if you didn't want me in the first place and why you broke up with me. And I want the truth...'

Lucas stared at her like he was in pain but sighed defeated and started with his explanation 'I started dating you because you were too hard to resist. The pull was too much and I couldn't stay away...' So he didn't have a choice but to date her when he was all reluctant 'You must understand I never planned on breaking up with you. I was ready to start my life with you, claim you, make you mine but then Jaxon and his friends came...' she stiffen at the name and her eyes widen in fear when her mind flash back to her dream. Could that be real too? 'They were looking for us...'

'Why? Why are we so 'special'?' She gritted out.

'We are the second mating couple of our kind. The first was decades ago, I don't know what happen to them. I heard they were looking for a rare pairing and I knew instantly that was us. I didn't know what would have happened but we thought it best if I break up with you until they left.'

'What do you mean by rare pairing?' She was confused by this point. Why would Jaxon want them?

'Pairing between a werewolf and human, I'm the only one with a human mate.'

That surprised her. She thought that it was normal thing and there were other humans around here. She felt her anger towards him dropping but she held on to it. 'Why didn't you tell me all this before? All this time you have been lying to me. All of you!' She glared at everyone and they hang their heads, shamed face.

'I didn't think you were ready and I didn't want to burden you.' Lucas told her trying to hold her hand again but she moved hers away. She could see that it hurt him but she didn't care at the moment.

'Do you think I'm ready now?' Sure, he couldn't just come out and say 'Hey I'm a werewolf and you are my mate'. She understands that much but there is never a right time to tell someone that information. 'You should have at least told me when you decided on ripping my heart out and throwing it away. Instead you let me suffer for weeks in depression thinking that you didn't want, that you only used me when all the time you were lying to me.' She took a deep breath trying to calm down but it didn't work.

She was angry dammit and she will tell him how awful that time in her life had been 'You have no idea how hurt I was to hear those awful words left your mouth, to see that bitch Alison all over you. You went on and on pretending that you didn't want me...but wait you didn't pretend did you? You never wanted me!'

'Please...' Lucas begged her but she ignored him and looked toward Alandro who was staring at them both with regret.

She didn't even know what she was asking for. 'Alandro what if you don't want to be with that mate? He said the pull was too strong to resist and that you will basically end up with each other right?' She waited for him to answer and when he looked at her knowingly and nodded she continued 'So what if I don't want to be drawn to that person, is there a way to sever it, like, I don't want him to be drawn to me as me not to him. Do you understand what I'm saying? Is there a choice in this 'mating pair'?'

'Alexis what are you doing?' Lucas gasped from beside her getting up to stoop before her but she didn't look at him. Instead she waited for Alandro to answer her question and she knew by the look in his eyes that there was a way.





Lucas felt like everything was slipping out of his control. His heart was beating a thousand miles per hour and his brain felt like it was going to burst with anxiety. What was Alexis doing demanding such a request from his father. He can understand that she was hurt but he won't allow her to reject him. 'Son I have to tell her' Alandro told him through the mind link.

'NO DON'T TELL HER ANYTHING! THAT IS AN ORDER!' He shouted not bothering with the mind link. He looked back at Alexis to see her staring at him in both hurt and anger and it broke him to know that he hurt her again. She was right about everything. He could have told her, because eventually he would have to. Now it seem like it never made much sense for him to wait to tell her about what he was. 'Alexis please just listen to me...I love you and I want to be with you. I will spend the rest of my day trying to make it up to you I promise.'

'Don't make promises you can't keep Lucas.' she told him and he didn't like the tone of her voice. She sounded like she had given up on him, like she had already erased him from her heart. Panic was threatening to take over as he considered the fact that she already had. A dozen emotions were playing over on her face then her eyes widen as if whatever she was thinking finally clicked into place. 'Let me see your wolf.' She demanded once again angry.

He really didn't want to, that was why he had let Xavier shift. She would only see it as another deceit. She had told him things in his wolf form that he wasn't supposed to understand. Sighing with defeat he step back and shifted in his wolf 'Get me a pair of pants please and hurry.' He told Kara. He watched nervously as Alexis eyes widen before they narrowed into slits.

'Fluffy? I can't believe this. It was you all along. How could you Lucas?!'

'I'm so happy that you're okay,' He watched as Jake run to Alexis and hug her, unaware of the tension in the room. Luke and Carlos came in and remain in the foyer. Lucas cautiously went by her knee and rub up against it. 'Oh so Lucas told you he was a werewolf?' He whined when Alexis pushed him away.

'You knew?' Alexis scream at Jake who was completely taking him aback by her outburst.

'Um yeah. It's cool huh? Is that him?' Jake had never seen him shift before.

'Yes it's fan-fucking-tastic.' She let out angrily and got up slowly when her belly prevented her from moving any faster. She walked away and made her way to the door without spearing him a glance. But he followed after her. Kara came down with a pair of old Levi's and he hurriedly shift and put them on.

'Where are you going? Could you just stay so we talk please.' He felt like his heart was going to drop out any second. He could feel the pain coming in his chest.

She turned around but she wasn't looking at him but over his shoulder at the others 'I don't want to see any of you ever again. Don't talk to me at school, don't say anything. You are all as guilty as Lucas.' And there it was-the pain. He grabbed his chest and rubbed it unconsciously. 'Can you take me home please?' She asked Luke and of course he nodded.

'You're not leaving me. Please don't leave me. I love you baby just give me another chance...' he begged and before she could say anything he wrapped his hands around her bringing her face up to his. He kissed her roughly trying to get her to understand his feelings for her 'You want me, nothing else matters. Nothing is standing in our way now and we can start over.' he kissed her all over her face punctuating his words with a kiss. He didn't even realise that she was struggling against him until he felt Carlos pull him back and away from his mate.

He growled at him crouching ready to attack. 'She doesn't want you near her. Next time adhere to her wishes.' He growled at him and the only thing that stopped him from shifting was how scared Alexis looked. 'Let's go.' They made to turn with Alexis but he grabbed her hand.

'You're not leaving, not with my babies growing inside you.' He growled at her pissed off now.

'Oh really? Watch me.' She made to grab her hand out of his but he tightened his hold. The next thing he knew he was flying and crashed right in a table in the foyer. He didn't second guess as he shift and attack Carlos.

'Get her out of here.' Carlos shouted as he too shifted and they went at it. He tried snapping at his neck but the asshole was a good fighter. This guy was trying to take his mate. He heard the car door slam and the car pulled away, his mate's scent lingering faintly in the air. He was taking her. He tried to get around Carlos but the fucking wolf wouldn't give him a break and he really didn't want to kill him. Other wolves join in and blocking him from ever getting to Alexis. 'This is not the end Alpha. Calm down and give her some space' Lucas let out a loud howl before he crumpled to the grown.

He was positively sure that Alexis will not forgive him.
