The Next Town Over

Hay guys I'm back and I hope you all enjoy this chapter and if you have any feed back on any part of the story just tell me in the comments and now on to the story....

No Ones POV:

Jake and Carl climb down the tree hug and grasp each others hands as they skip back home into the sun rise

They pass a river with fish jumping happily and then a rock with a small speeder snake soaking in the sun

And finally the gates come into view and they see Daryl, Rick, Glenn, and Jesse waiting for them

Jakes POV:

As we come to the gate the group runs over mainly Rick and Jesse though Daryl and Glenn come over but slower

Rick grabs our free hands and drags us inside and to our apartment he then closes the door and turns

"Strip and get in the shower check each other for bites"

He then walks away and exits we strip and I check Carl over nothing he dose the same for me I'm good and we get in the shower together

After our shower we get dressed and I tell Carl I need to go talk to someone he nods and I slip on my shoes and leave

I head for ricks house and knock no answer I look all around and find him giving a speech in the town square I stand among the other kids all younger than me Rick starts speaking

"Now now calm down....good now I know that you are all worried about the fire but we are working on it...."

He's cut off by someone "what are you going to do if it gets out of control?!?"

I'm confused what fire? I look around and then spot it a faint pillar of smoke rising into the sky to the south as I turn back Rick starts again

"We have it under control and it is getting smaller we are doing everything we can to help the members of this group through this now please there is water food and clothing available please go home"

After Rick walked down I ran over "Rick!" He stops looks around I jump waving my hand he catches my hand through the crowed just as I'm nearly trampled by a group of people Rick makes his way to where I lay on the ground

He offers me his hand I take it and he pulls me up "you ok?"

"Ya they didn't step on me" I say rubbing my sore butt he takes me away from the crowed and then gets down to my level

"So I know you didn't come out here to say hi" he's being sarcastic I look him in the eye the man who saved my life the man I see as my dad

"About yesterday at the gate when I...." He cuts me off

"It's fine I don't mind if you see me as your dad or even if you call me dad the last words that Your mom said to me was if anything happened to her to keep you safe as if you were my kid and I promised her that and I'm still keeping that promise"

I take this all in a tear running down my cheek as I remember my mom the last time I saw her she was a walker trying to eat me

After a second I get my voice back

"Rick what caused the fire?"

He hesitates and then speaks quietly

"There's another town that wants us dead they are just a few miles down the road they started the fire to burn us but don't worry we are handling it"

After a little more talking I find out that this other town is nasty once people go in they aren't allowed back out and the kids there get raped it's horrid

"Now you go on back to your apartment and don't tell Carl anything I don't want him to know" I nod and go to leave by then I turn and go back to Rick and hug him

"Thanks dad..." I wispered then I run off back to my and Carl's apartment building
