Callie Ryan is your normal twenty-one year old girl, except she isn't. Her grandpa is the offensive coordinator for the Panthers NFL team and she has a secret that very few people know about her. She's in her final year at the University of Kansas...
I can't believe it's finally here. I almost didn't make it because of the bad grades I was getting. But my teachers were so understanding and were willing to work with me after I went to my cardiologist. They helped me get right back on track and helped me get to where I am today. Right here. At this moment.
I still haven't told my mom what the doctor said. Hell, I haven't even told Luke yet about my heart. I've just been so stressed with getting my school work done and finishing that I haven't the time. My whole family is going to be here and I couldn't be more excited to see them. I had talked to Luke last night and he unfortunately couldn't make it to my graduation this morning. I understood though. He has practice and I wouldn't want him to miss it just for my graduation.
When did this all become so complicated?
Why can't I just tell him?
Maybe its the fear that's getting in the way. Would he leave me for a model or someone better to come along? Because I know that there are other girls out there who would be better for him then me. One who doesn't have a heart problem and doesn't have to go to her cardiologist every year to make sure that she doesn't have to have surgery again to fix another problem.
My family, even my grandparents, flew out yesterday and we all went to dinner. It was really nice and as a graduation present my dad got me an iPad and I love it. It will be so much easier to travel with than my laptop. Don't get me wrong, I love my laptop. I just find it so heavy when I travel. I also got some money so that I can buy whatever I want and some of my favorite candy.
After I finished getting ready, my family and I headed over to the college. I have on a light blue dress, which thankfully covers my long scar on my chest from my heart surgery I had when I was a baby. The straps meet together in the back with a bow on them and I have on some white sandals. I didn't want to wear heels because we have to walk down a long hill to get to the football stadium and I'd rather not have my feet hurt today. For makeup I decided to keep it simple and just have black eyeliner on my eyelid and mascara. My light blonde hair is in soft curls cascading down my back.

I still can't believe this is finally happening. I meet up with my roommates Madison, Taylor, and Clare as we begin walking down the hill with the rest of our graduating class. I could have decorated my cap but I didn't because it would have taken too long and I couldn't think of anything cute to say on it.
Once we walk through the balloons with KU written on them.

Once we walked through we found our seats and the KU cheerleaders walked on the field with the KU flag.

I took my seat in the bleachers with my friends and we started taking pictures with each other for graduation and our possible last time here on this football field. I went to some of the football games whenever I didn't have to study for nursing. We're just laughing and having fun not even listening to what's going on until the speaker comes up to the podium to speak into the microphone.
"Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the graduating class of 2013." We all clap and cheer. "We are so very excited that you all could make it for this special day for your graduates. They have worked so hard to get to this point and now that it is finally here I can see a very bright future for our graduates. Now I will have Lane Davis come up and say a few things."
I didn't pay much attention to anything else because the speeches got long and boring so my friends and I were just busy taking pictures. We don't even walk across stage to get our diplomas because there are too many of us so they mail it to us instead.
When graduation finishes we move the tassel to one side of the cap and throw them up in the air. Afterwards I grabbed my cap and went back down on the field trying to look for my family.
I'm a graduate of University of Kansas.
Once I find my family I hug them all individually. We take a group picture when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I spin around and see Luke and I gasp.
"Luke, oh my God, what are you doing here?" I ask him pulling him in for a hug.
"I wanted to surprise you."
He presses his lips on mine and I feel butterflies in my stomach.
"How long have you been here?" I ask him pulling away.
"The whole thing," he tells me.
"Okay you two I want a picture." My mom says.
Luke stands behind resting his head on top of mine and wrapping his muscular arms around me while I smile big. She takes another one of us kissing.

When graduation was done we decided to go to Chili's and I ordered the Honey BBQ chicken strips, french fries, and Pepsi.
We sit around talking and having a great time. But in the back of my head I still remember that I need to tell Luke. Especially because I have to have another heart surgery. It wouldn't feel right to keep this from him and I have already kept it from him for four months.
He deserves to know. The only question that I'm left with is. . .when?
It seems like there is never a right timing for it.
