"Someone looks happy," Maxon says.
He just got out of his meeting and I haven't gotten to see him all day.
I hug him. He hugs me back.
"Are you ok?" he asks.
"Perfect," I reply.
"Ok?"
"Come on!"
I grab his arm and pull him to our room.
"What's going on?" he asks.
I go to the bathroom and grab the gift box.
"America. I don't need any gifts. I just had my birthday," he demands.
"Well it's to late," I reply, putting the box on the bed.
He sits next to it.
"Ah," I say.
He looks at me.
"After dinner," I say with a grin.
"What! That's not fair," he complains.
"Well to bad."
"Fine. Only because I love you, my dear."
I growl. He grins.
I roll my eyes.
"Let's go to dinner so I can come back and open my gift," he says while getting up.
"Ok!"
With that, we go to dinner.

"Can I open it now?" Maxon asks impatiently.
We just came back from a late dinner and we're getting ready for bed.
"Yes, go ahead."
He smiles and opens the box. I'm sitting on the opposite side of the box from Maxon. I wrapped three separate gifts. There's a small, medium, and large gift. I hand him the big one first. He opens it. It's a tray of pink and blue cookies.
"Uh?"
He looks at me confused.
"Just wait," I tell him.
I hand him the small one. He opens it. It's the positive pregnancy test with a pink and blue bow wrapped around it. He looks at me.
"Are you?..."
I smile and nod. He looks at my stomach. His face doesnt show much emotion. It kinda scares me.
"Maxon?"
He smiles a bit and looks at me, tears forming in his eyes.
"I'm gonna be a dad?" he asks.
I smile and nod.
He moves the box and hugs me. I let some tears slip.
He moves back then kisses me. I kiss him back.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" he asks.
"They don't know yet. They can just tell there's a baby in there," I reply, putting a hand on my stomach.
"That's ok. I'm so happy America."
"Me too."
"We're gonna be a family. Our own family."
"I know. And you'll be a great dad."
"You don't think I'll be like him?"
"Of course not Maxon. You'll be the best dad in the world," I assure him.
"You think so?"
"I know so."
He smiles. I kiss his cheek then grab the third gift.
"Last one," I say.
He opens it. It's a baby shirt that says "I love my daddy" in a heart.
"Aww America," he says.
"Isn't it cute?"
"It's so small."
"Babies are small when they're born."
"It's been awhile since I've gotten to see a baby."
"I know. Even Astra is getting big now."
He looks at me then to my stomach. I blush a bit. He puts a hand on my stomach. I smile at him. After a minute of staying like that, he moves his hand.
"Bed time," he says.
"I'm not tired," I say.
"You two need to rest," he insists.
I roll my eyes then lay down.
He smiles then lays with me after turning the light off.
He hugs me close, and I put my hand on his.
I stay up for a bit thinking of our future. I imagine Maxon holding a little red headed baby girl with brown eyes, him flipping out when she needs her diaper changed, us happy with our little baby. I can't wait. I smile.
I close my eyes and fall asleep to the calming pattern of Maxon's breath.
