After I was jumped the gang never left me alone after that. Even if I was just staying at the house that day. Johnny and I started to stay at our house again since it was getting closer to Christmas, and we all needed to do our Christmas shopping. One day I went with Ponyboy and Johnny, I got my gifts for Soda, Dal, and Steve that day and the boys got almost all of their shopping done. Today I was out shopping with Soda, since he could help me on what to get Ponyboy. I decided on getting him a skateboard because I knew he could ride one and I need a skateboarding buddy. I also got Johnny, Two-Bit and Darry a gift. This is who is getting what from me. Ponyboy a skateboard, Johnny a can of hair grease, the good stuff he doesn’t get often and a special comb that wasn’t made of cheap plastic that is going to break all the time, Steve I got a book of cars and car stuff and a couple tools that he complained that he needed, Dal I got a real nice black leather jacket with all the silver zippers and buckles, Darry I got him a good pair of steel toes work boots after I heard about him nearly breaking his foot after dropping roofing on it, for Two-Bit I got him a wallet with a chain on it cause he kept getting his stolen, and lastly for Soda I got him a special present. I remember him telling me about his horse, Mickey Mouse, and how he was sold to someone else. I wanted to track the horse down and at least learn how he is doing so Soda knows. If I could I was going to see if I could bring Soda to see Mickey Mouse. The only ones that knew were Dal, Pony, and Johnny. Dal was in on it because he knew a lot of people in many places that could find out information fast. So far I have found out that he was sold twice after Soda lost him and was currently somewhere in Florida and on sale again. The poor horse didn’t like anyone except Soda and couldn’t adjust to anyone else. Soda and I just got back from shopping and dropped my gifts off at my house before coming back to his. We walked through the door laughing but Soda stopped when a blonde girl stood up from the couch. “Hi Soda.” She said and waved slightly. Soda didn’t wave back, he didn’t even smile. “What are you doing here?” he asked her but for the first time ever his voice was cold. “Wait, who is she and why is she here?” I asked and pointed at her. “Jennie, met my EX girlfriend, Sandy.” Soda said  putting emphasis of the “ex” part but he didn’t look at me. “Soda I came to apologize.” Sandy began. “Apologize for what? Sandy, I think it would be better if you just left.” Soda said and pointed to the door. “But Soda-“  She began again and stepped forward but Soda cut her off. “Just leave!” Soda shouted and I could tell he was tense. She jumped a little as well as me; I had never heard him yell. She left right after that but not before hesitating slightly first. We listened to her walk off the porch and waited a little after that to make sure she was gone. “Soda, what happened between you and her?” I asked. “I think it’s better if you just leave it be, Jennie.” Soda said but he didn’t look at me and there was a coldness to his voice. I walked towards him a little, “Come on Soda, it might make you feel better if you talked-“ I began but he cut me off. “I SAID NO, JEN!” Soda screamed and turned to me. For the first time ever I saw his eyes had coldness in them. I shrunk back and felt fear rise inside my body. Afraid of his next move.

I yelled at Jennie, but I didn’t mean to. I saw her shrink back and realized what I did. I stepped towards her and tried to apologize but she backed up quickly. She thought I was going to hurt her. I could tell she was about to run away from me, so I quickly wrapped my arms around her waist and held her against my chest tightly. She struggled but I held on tight. After a little bit she stopped. “Just go ahead and hit me.” She said quietly. I lifted up her head. “Jennie, I’m not going to hit you. I would never even think about hurting you. You’re like my sister.” I said and I felt her relax a little. “I know, it’s just usually when someone yells at me they end up hitting me after wards.” She explained and I hugged her. “Jennie, I am never going to hit you, ever.” I said and I felt her arms wrap around my waist. “I know, Soda.”
