KAYLE

She smiled and stood up, "Oh, hi Cal and Kayle."

Cal and I had a quick eye contact before turning back to her.

"So you're the secretary?" Cal asks.

She nodded. "At your service, president," she said and smiled.

Cal held my hand as we walked over his seat and whispered, "Is it okay?"

I nod and whispered back. "There's nothing wrong. I'm okay as long as you're okay too," I assured him.

"It's only work, okay? Don't worry," he said and smiled.

He searched for his laptop and turned to Crystal.

"Can I have a glance on the pending articles?"

Crystal turned her laptop to us, "Here," she points. "To be submitted next week."

Cal studied it and Crystal turned her gaze on me. "Hi Kayle!" she walked over and hugged me.

I smiled and hugged back.

See, there's nothing to worry about. I told myself.

They settled themselves and began typing while I wait for Jax.

"What time will he come?" Cal asked.

As if on cue, the door suddenly opened, revealing Jax.

"Yo!" he greets.

"There," I chuckled. "Mauna na kami."

I stood up and fixed myself.

"Take care, doll. I'll go and get you later, I promise. Just text me okay?"

I shook my head. "It's okay, magco-commute na lang ako o magpapahatid kay Jax. Kailangan niyong gawin 'yan."

"I'm gonna get my girl, okay? Go now, you're late," he said firmly.

I rolled my eyes. "Fine. Gotta go. Bye Crystal."

I don't know if I was just imagining Crystal's click of tongue as Cal and I exchanged "I love you".

Paranoia hits me hard.

Jax and I made our way to the parking lot and saw Mia standing outside the car.

I can't help but tease them.

"What's up with you two?!" I asked in full energy.

Jax laughed and Mia blushed.

"Walang kami," sabi ni Jax habang tumatawa at umikot para pumunta sa driver's seat.

Naiwan naman kaming nakatayo ni Mia.

"He's right," sabi niya habang nakatingin pababa.

I nod, I get it.

One-sided love isn't it?

I patted her shoulder, "Let's go Mia."

She smiled and we went inside.

Mia went with us to the practice.

"Wala akong magawa sa bahay," was her excuse.

I pretended to believe it but I knew it was because she wanted to be with Jax.

But the thing is, for the whole practice, Jax told me that I was not in my normal self.
