That feeling we get as we watch the one we love walk away
That feeling when you want them to stay
The moment when the truth sets in
When your heart breaks and bends
As you think to a time when emotional pain ran shallow
As you stand there looking at your emotional gallows
To a time when you were resilient to pain
When the kiss of your mother took it away
To a time when joy was all you felt
And you didn't care about the hand you were delt
But the pain will only last so long
Than it's time to think about another song
For the pain might run deep
But it's you that makes it not seep
