Chapter 5

Catherine's POV

I was extremely worried for Riley. She was my bestie. And that Ryan guy was such a weirdo.

I tried calling Marcus but he didn't pick up. Ashdrew were out filming for play. Kina went to watch Tyler's basketball match. I got a call from Mom asking me to buy medicines as her migraine pain was sickening. 

How do I go out to bring medicine? 

I couldn't leave her alone with him. Maybe he noticed the tension on my face and asked if he could help anyway. After telling him, he suggested that I pick up the medicines for Riley and my mom. Meet my mom and give her meds and then come by the evening to stay here. I still doubted him staying alone in the house because of his rude behaviour with her. But I could see the concern in his eyes and somehow I felt he would take care of her better. And I left so that I could join her later.

Ryan's POV

Catherine wasn't willing to leave Riley alone with me. But I assured her that I will take care of her bestie. She left leaving me with the responsibility. 

I entered Riley's room and was amazed by its bright colours. There were posters of Disney characters with their famous quotes, rainbows and unicorns and then a beautiful picture of the castle which read, 'Where dreams come true'.

For the time, positive vibes hit me back. Suddenly, everything turned happy and I was feeling more safe emotionally. Near her bedside, she had soft and plushy toys.

 A red angry bird, Mickey and Minnie, Olive oil with spinach and a big huggable teddy bear. 

Woah! It was amazing to see such beautiful childhood memories. It made me forget about life's troubles and I felt so light. I sensed some movement and when I turned back I was relieved to see that she was awake. I was smiling and happy to see her.

Riley: What happened? How did I reach here ? and what are doing in my room?

Me: Relax Riley, you just have a little weakness but it will get better if you rest. Let me bring you something light to eat!

 POV end.

Before I could say anything further he left the room and started fiddling with things in the kitchen, finding something. I still didn't remember how did I reach in my room from the rehearsal hall? How did he know my address and how did he even come inside? I was just flooded with lots of questions in my mind. I tried to sit up but felt very weak. Just then I heard him entering the room. For a change, I saw him smile. He pulled a chair and sat next to my side with a plate of fruit salad.

Ryan's POV

I saw her trying to sit up but she couldn't. I put one hand beneath her head and straightened the pillow behind her. Then I held her by the shoulders to help her sit back up. She felt so warm to touch. She broke in saying today was a different day.

Riley: Oh my God!

Me: What happened?

Riley: I think I found the 8th wonder of the world.

Me: Wh...what? What is that?

Riley: Your smile! You can smile too.

Me: (oh crap! She saw me smiling at her. I must be looking so dumb doing that. Inside, it felt so good. But I can't show her.) 

POV end.

*Awkward silence*

Wtf  was I thinking saying that! Shit! I just mentally cursed myself for it. He would think that I notice him too much. I broke in the silence by asking him what happened and how did I reach here?

"But on one condition will I tell you", he said.

Me: what?

Ryan: you have to finish this fruit salad first.

Me: OK (and he handed it over to me and I started eating the slices with fork)

Ryan told me that I fainted due to over exhaustion. He and Cathy brought me here. But she had to leave due to an emergency and promised to be back soon till evening.

Great! She left me with the Satan to die alone I guess.

But I saw a different Ryan today. He turned an Angel saving me today. He wasn't rude, as a matter if fact he was taking care of me. Thinking like that I didn't realise I actually gulped a whole lot of water and choked. I was coughing badly and suddenly I felt a hand on my back. He was rubbing my back to relieve me of that and with the other he caught my shoulder. I was feeling better after a minute and he raised his voice a little, " Are you a small kid that doesn't know how to drink water? What's the hurry about, couldn't you drink it peacefully? ". And there the Satan stings! I held my teddy bear tight and faced in the opposite direction.

Ryan's POV

She finished her salad and emptied the plate. I gave her some water. Just when I was about to keep the plate, she started choking. I just jumped beside her and started to rub and pat her back so she feels better. After she was okay, I shouted at her because I was worried for her. Oh no! Not again...I hurt her one more time. Why can't I control myself when I am near her. Instead of caring for her, I turn out to be the harsher person. And now she was sad, probably facing other way.

A/N: It's  good to hear Cathy's thoughts as well. It was cute to see Ryan's happy face and the fact that he still cherishes childhood stuff. Besides, who wouldn't like if a guy at least attempts to prepare food (even just a salad :P) 

One moment he is super sweet guy that takes care and other moment he is this angry young man! Arghhh... why do guys play so hot & cold ? It;s so confusing!
