Life has almost been perfect until one day Jules has mentioned "homeschooling" again at dinner time.
But this time Kristen can't escape. She can't just excuse herself from meals whenever she feels like it.
So, she stays and listens.
The idea of homeschooling scares her. She doesn't want to lose her new friend Suzie. And her grades have just started to improve.
"Kristen, I know what the kids have been doing to you," says Jules.
Kristen drops her spoon in the cup full of soup, spilling some on her shirt.
How?
Why?
"Suzie's mother told me and your teacher confirmed it," continues the mother.
The child's heart begins beating faster, almost skipping beats.
Why would Suzie tell her mother? How dare she?
