One night, just days before Christmas, Kristen is trying to learn her lines for a new audition, when her ears prick and she catches something she shouldn't hear.
Her parents.
They're arguing.
Why?
What has provoked that?
Kristen quietly opens the door to her bedroom and peeks in the hallway. What she sees is a horrifying view which she still remembers as an adult.
Her parents are not only arguing. She has just seen her mom slap her dad.
"Why are you so blind, John? She is hurting! Kristen's hurting!"
Kristen quietly gasps, before shutting her door and letting her frail body slide down to the floor.
It's all her fault.
That's what she thinks while painting another pretty picture, her canvas being her arm.
