That night Jules sleeps in Kristen's bed with her. She feels like this is going to get them closer than ever.
The family is taken aback from Kristen's outburst and cries in the bathroom.
What has happened to their little girl? Where is she?
John and Jules don't dare to talk about divorce after the incident.
The whole family helps Kristen as much as they can.
As the months go by, she seems to be getting better. Especially in holding her emotions. She doesn't burst when things go wrong. She becomes more obedient. She helps her mother in the kitchen more regularly. Her mom can't stop praising her at family events.
"My, my, Kristen! You're becoming such a beautiful young lady!", Kristen remembers how once her aunt has complimented her, with her signature big kisses on the cheeks.
But painting the pretty pictures doesn't stop. Just like the ugly reflection in the mirror doesn't disappear.
