"So, do your parents know you're alive?" I asked, breaking the silence.

He laughed, "I'm long gone to them."

"Where'd you go then?"

"When they thought I killed myself? I took a train from Montreal to Vancouver that night and when I got there in the morning, I got a job in a convenience store and slept in a park," he said, not taking his eyes off the road.

"A park?"

"Yeah, I had $2,340 saved before I left, and I didn't want to spend it all on hotels or motels," he said.

"Oh. So, does anyone else know about... you?"

"No, Love. Just you," he said, placing his hand on top of mine and intertwining our fingers.

"Can I have my phone?" I asked.

"Not until we're home," he said.

I stared out the window watching the cars pass by and the evergreen trees behind them.

"So now, I have a question for you," he said, breaking the few minutes of silence we had.

"Yes?" I looked up at him, and he looked back at me with his deep, brown eyes for a split second before returning to the road.

"Do you still love me?"
