Chapter Sixteen

I continued to walk to the woods, neverminding the heavy rain and strong wind. I want to prove to myself that I am still Gabriel Jaiyanna, a daugther of two great hunters, the one everyone avoids and scared of, the one they call Assassin.

Agad kong pinabulusok ang kutsilyo sa isang lobo na humarang sa daan ko. Tumarak iyon sa kanyang paa dahilan kung bakit hindi na ito nakatayong muli. Nilapitan ko iyon at hinugot.

Napatingin ako sa aking kanan ng makita ang isang lobo. Kasunod nito ang apat na lobo hanggang sa pinalibutan ako ng mga ito. I have nowhere to go. And I definitely have no choice than to kill them.

Ngunit bago pa man umatake ang mga ito ay isa-isa silang natumba sa harapan ko. Nakita ko ang mga pana na nakaturok sa kanilang likod. Hunters...

Five hunters appeared in front of me. Their hair was braided and tattoos are placed in their shoulders. Their above-the-knee skirt is made from fur as well as their top. They dress and act like amazonas of the jungle. Ang kaibahan nga lang ay lobo ang pinapatay nila. Bitbit ng mga ito ang kanilang mga pana at sibat. Nang makalapit ay yumuko ang mga ito sa harapan ko.

"Assassin...", ani ng isa. I remained stoic waiting for her to explain. I saw her pictures but never met her personally. Ngayon ko lang siya nakita ng harapan. Her brown eyes are proud and strong. Isang patunay na malakas siya sa kanilang grupo.

"Pinapasundo ka ni Chief.", dagdag nito sa kanyang sinabi. Napakunot ang noo ko dahil doon.

"I'm not yet done here.", sagot ko sa kanya. Napatingin muna ito sa kadarating na grupo ng mga hunter. Lumapit ang isa sa kanya at bumulong.

"All dead.", aniya. Sa tingin ko ay ang mga lobo ang tinutukoy nito.

Bumaling sa'kin si Alice, ang pinaka-pangulo ng grupo ng huntress. Ang grupo ng huntress ay bihasa sa paggamit ng pana at sanay sa digmaan. I wonder why they are here? Alam kong may iba silang pakay maliban sa 'di umano'y pagsundo sa'kin.

"Assassin, your task is given to us. Kami na ang bahalang pumatay sa Alpha.", pagpapaliwanag nito. Mas napakunot ang noo ko dahil doon. Unang beses itong nangyari sa'kin. They can't cancel my mission!

"No.", maikling sagot ko sa kanya. Nabawi ang kanyang ngisi dahil doon. Sa kanyang reaksyon ay napagtanto kong may iba itong ipinapahiwatig.

"But it's the Chief's order.", sumbat nito sa'kin. Do I need to remind her that she's talking to the Assassin? Alam kong nasa teritoryo niya ako pero wala akong paki-alam doon.

"Tell chief I am going to kill the Alpha. I am... I am getting my revenge on him and his family.", ani ko bago tumalikod at tumakbo papunta sa base.

I need to get this task done before my heart could betray me.

Duke's POV

She left and I was dumbfounded. I was speechless all the time. My self doesn't want to accept what I saw. I want to ask her questions but I am afraid I might not get the answers that I've been believing since I saw her for the first time.

She's completely heartless and cold. A perfect description for a hunter.

"Anong gagawin mo ngayon?", tanong ni Karleen sa'kin ilang segundo pagkatapos niyang tumakbo palayo sa'min. I grip my thoughts together. Should I chase her? Ask? Kill?

For a moment, I don't know the answer. Like what I felt the first time I saw her in our garden. She's like an angel from above transformed into goddess. Her view in that night surrounded by beautiful flowers made it perfect.

The weird smell caught me when I woke up. Pakiramdam ko, sadyang ginising ako ng amoy na iyon. I tried shrugging off the weird smell and took a bath pero mas lalong lumakas. Like it is pulling me. I tried to stop and sleep again but my wolf growled inside of me.

I decided to unwind but the smell became stronger when I got out from the house. My wolf growled because of it. I followed the smell until I was in the garden.

And there I saw her. I saw the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. Her curly hair as the wind blows and her white clothes perfectly fit her. I was stunned for a moment when her eyes met mine. Something clicked inside of me. Fire burned my body as I watched her eyes sparkles under the moonlight.

Mate... My mind whispered.

Until she went home, her smell still lingers on my nose. But how?

She's a human. I can feel her body temperature. It's not as the same as ours. So my mate is a human...

That night I can't get her off my mind. My wolf growls as I think of her. Mukhang narinig ni Karleen na hindi pa ako natutulog kaya't nagpasya siyang tingnan ako sa kwarto.

"What's wrong with your wolf?", aniya. I covered my head with a pillow as I calm my wolf.

'You idiot. I can't mark her immediately. Can you calm your shit?' I tried to stop him. Since I saw her, my wolf won't stop growling. I can't even sleep because of it. He wants to mark her immediately. But I can't and I don't know how. I've closed my link to anyone since I saw her. I think I slipped it a while back because of confusion. Now, I'd closed it again. My wolf and I are the ones who can only communicate right now. Maybe that's why Karleen's frustrated, too because she can't mind link me.

Vil and Lara are both wolves. My parents are the same, too. So, how can I mark a human? Could it be possible?

"Ba't ang taas ng temperature mo? I can feel it in here.", ani Karleen habang nakasilip sa pintuan ko.

"Get out.", I lazily answered. Maya-maya pa ay narinig ko ang paglapit niya sa kama ko. Kinapa niya ang aking noo at agad napaiwas doon.

"Your temperature is too high!", she exclaimed. Nagpasya akong tingnan siya. I opened my mindlink. Nasakto iyon sa pag-ungol ng lobo ko.

Gulat na gulat ang reaksyon ni Karleen ng marinig ito sa kanyang utak. Napatakip pa ito ng bibig habang tamad ko siyang tinitingnan.

And then she bursted out laughing. She even laid her back on my bed.

"Oh my goodness! You found your mate!", aniya habang tumatawa. Napahawak pa siya sa kanyang tiyan dahil doon.

"Teka, taga saan? I didn't see you going outside the woods. Or you escaped? Pero parang hindi naman kasi hanggang sa garden---"

She stopped midsentence. Her eyes grew big as she turned her head to me. Agad akong nagtalukbong bago pa man siya nagsimulang tumili ng matinis.

"Dianne is your mate?! A human! Oh gosh!", aniya ng hindi mapakali.

"So, what's your plan?", I came to sense when I heard Vil. Napatingin ako sa kanya at naabutan ang paninitig nito sa'kin. Kasalukuyan itong nagpapagaling mula sa sugat na nakuha niya dalawang araw na ang nakakaraan.

Two days and I'm asking the same question to myself. I've never been this lost before. My wolf won't function properly so as my mind.

"Hunter ba ang magiging Luna namin?", pasunod nitong tanong. Napatingin ako sa kanya na hindi alam ang isasagot.

Dumating sina Karleen at Lara galing kusina bitbit ang mga tray ng meryenda.

"She's a hunter, yes. But remember, she saved us.", ani Karleen at naunang umalis.

Duke's first POV! Sorry for the late update. Well, two days lang naman.

Anyway, my original plot was to make this up to 40 chapters. But school is coming kaya kung napapansin niyo, medyo minamadali ko na siya. I hope you still enjoy reading though. I will try my best to regularly update when I have time.
