Chapter 4: Confrontation

"Secret Admirer, Secret Admirer, thank you for rose. I'll remember to give you the amount for how it cost."

"And your butler? He will be my assistant," Brice said as he smirked at me. I glared at him, my eyes piercing through his.

Just because you're a prince, doesn't mean that you could steal my butler. He signed a contract and that will not change anything.

"Brice, just give me another chance. It was truly inadequate to just storm off like that to my butler. I'd like to make it up to him for such a behavior," I said as I gently rub my arm. Brice scoffed and waves me off.

"Go," he said as he leaves me.

You'll see what the outcome would be to your behavior Brice. Just you wait. I nodded before leaving, my cane clicks and echoes through out the room.

I heard yelling on the other room so I tried to check it out. I quickly hold the rose gently and tried to sneak a peak.

I then looked back at Quincy to see if she noticed me. She's currently preparing a meal and by the looks of it, she's a bit busy so I don't really see the problem of getting caught.

Suddenly, when I looked back to what I was doing, a guy with a black suit walked past me and I quickly yelped in surprise. He looked back at me and smiled.

"Nicholas! You scared me!" I said as I tried to regain my breath. He quickly chuckled and looks down at me. He mentions me to go to near him and I nodded.

"Um, so, what do I do now?" I asked as I raised one brow at him. He then went near my ear and whispered.

"Hold on," he said as he then carried me bridal style. I gasped as I felt like the ground wasn't already there. As he walked a bit, I yelped and held on to his neck and hugged it. Quincy then took a glance and looked at us before smiling, probably loving the scene in front of her.

"Is my lady embarrassed?" Nicholas asked as he looks at me. I then nodded.

"Kind of. Put me down Nicholas," I answered as I giggle. He smiled at me and walked towards the back door. I quickly stared at him and he looked at me grinning. Great, he doesn't want me to.

I knew that he had something in mind when it comes to the smirk.

"N-Nicholas! W-Where are you going?" I saw him walking away from me as I didn't even hesitate to follow him. He looks back and smiled down at me.

"The garden, my lady," he said as he opens the door and walks outside. I could hear the birds chirping and the squirrels running around.

He carefully lets me go as I saw my pet, William the beetle on a leaf. 

"William! There you are! I have been looking for you!"

"How can you be so sure that it is your pet my lady? There is a lot of-"

"He has a peculiar design on the back. You know, demon like," I said as I genuinely smile at him.

He looks at me confused as I mentions him over. I made him look at William's design on the back.

It was a little purple star inside a pentagram and some dots, making it look a little complicated.

He looks at me and chuckled.

"It is a peculiar design my lady,"

"Told you," I said as I giggled.

He then took a rose from his suit and quickly gives it to me. I could see a little tint of red on his cheeks. I then accepted the rose and twirled it on my fingertips. I then quickly realized that it was the same one from before.

"Were you the one who gave me a rose earlier? The one on my hair?"

"Hmm?" He asked as he stared at me.

So, I repeated the question. He lightly smiled and kisses my forehead.

"Yes, that was me, my lady," He answered back. I smiled and swiftly hugs him.

He stumbled back a little bit and got shocked. After a couple of minutes, he hugs back.

"Nicholas!" I heard the earl shouting as he quickly sees Nicholas. He stares at me then approaches us quickly.

I grabbed the hem of Nicholas' clothes as he quickly pushes me behind him.

"My lord-"

"No, I am deeply sorry. I was behaving quite abominably earlier and wanted I just wanted to say that I am regretful for shouting at you Nicholas," he said as he stares at me.

I quickly tug on Nicholas' hems, signaling for us to leave. He quickly grab a hold of my hands and caress it, telling me not to disturb them.

"If what you are apologizing truly my lord, then I forgive you," Nicholas said as he quickly turns around and gives me in a piggyback.

I turn back and looked at the earl and I saw him glare as he left. He is one of a kind earl. He's scary.

What a showoff.

I glared at him and saw the girl staring at me. I simply left to avoid her telling Nicholas what I did.

If it wasn't for my rank, I would've captured the girl immediately.

Speaking of the girl, she's quite a handful. Always being so carefree and calm to Nicholas.

Every time I would look at the garden, she was always talking to Nicholas. Then, she would always carry a rose around.

What does Nicholas have that I don't?

He is just a butler.

I am an earl.

Earls are much more higher than a butler. Handsome and much more richer than them. After all, I was the one who hired him.

It was quite peculiar. Why am I feeling this way? I only want her as a maid, not a lover.

"Augustus, what the hell are you doing? You didn't even knock!" Someone said as I quickly snapped out of my thoughts.

I saw the prince signing some papers as he stares at me, startled. I looked around and saw that I was in his office.

"B-Brice-"

"What were you thinking? Did you apologize to your butler?"

"Nothing. I was just thinking-"

"I know that. But what exactly are you thinking-"

"A girl," I said as I mentally facepalmed.

Great job Augustus. You just spoiled it.

Brice quickly stopped signing some papers and looked at me. I tried not to look at him and kept staring around the room to avoid his eyes.

He then smirks.

"So, it's a girl," he said as he quickly grins and stood up.

"What's her name Augustus?"
