Dr. Sonakshi Bose

[MBBS, MD (medicine)]

I close the wooden door of my cabin. Room no. 101. It's been 2 years since I'm working here, the Mumbai branch of Fortis Hospital. It looks more of a hotel though & my colleagues are supportive too ... It's just that life has gone so monotonous that the bright walls of this hospital make me gloomy.

101 is my cabin's number. I loved my job... I still do... But I need a break... Break from waking up at 7 every morning, attending to patient's misery till 7 in the evening even when my heart screams it's problems all the while...

Nachiket...

The name keeps popping in my head & my rebellious tears threaten to spill any moment. Still I compose myself... It's been 3 months Sona he is gone now for his good.

& what about my good? Our good?
(SonaKet's good😂😂)

I forcefully brush his thoughts aside. I walk towards the parking & throw my office bag in the back seat of my car. I look at my guitar lying there & my lips curve into one of my happiest smiles!

I turn the keys, press the accelerater & zoom out of the hospital building.

I tune into my favorite radio station & start singing along with the music.

Ae zindagi gale laga le
Ae zindagi gale laga le
Humne bhi tere har ek gum ko
Gale se lagaya hai
Hai na!

Ae zindagi gale laga le!

A scooter, antique Sholay style one, pulls up near my car. The rider had a helmet on. Seeing him peep into my car I stop my singing session which had become a dancing one too!

Completely embarrassed, I look the other way. My heart goes out to these children selling incense sticks on the road. Wish someone could do something for them!

I was looking at those children when the same man, who saw me sing & dance in the car goes down to the kids. I see him buy all their incense sticks & give them a packet. The kids open the packet & start jumping happily.

"Woah! Someone did something" I think out loud.

The lights turn green & the man rushes to his scooter because of the consistent honking. I look at him & raise my thumbs up to show my admiration. He bows down his head in humility & passes a genuine smile. The cars continue to honk & sadly our moment gets broken.

I start the car & head to marine drive. I have my favorite spot there. I enjoy looking at the ocean & playing my guitar. It is purely my time. No interference is appreciated. Even the local food vendors know me & leave a Pao Bhaji or a Vada Pav or a Bhel Puri..

Gosh! My mouth's watering!!!

... By my side. While leaving I pay them

& here I reach my spot!

I settle down & gently move my fingers over the guitar. I work on the tune which I am trying to create!
