Jaymee Viola Patterson

I sat in the park, watching Leilani play as Evelyn sat next to me. I hadn't spoken a word since I showed up to meet them here.

"Jay, talk to me." Eve whined.

"I quit, E. I'm done with Zion." I sighed.

She looked at me and started laughing, hard as hell. I frowned up my face, letting her know I didn't think it was funny.

"Sorry, Jay. That's funny." She said as she wiped her eyes.

"Why?" I asked.

"You not done with Zion. Your mouth may say you are but your body, heart and brain say you not." She shook her head.

I sighed, she was right. I wanted to rid my life of him but he was my first and only. Lei ran over to us with a big smile on her face.

"Hi TT!" She cheesed in my face.

"Hi, Lei. You having fun?" I asked as I smoothed her hair out.

"Yes but I'm hungry. Can we get pizza?" She turned to Eve.

"Yes, let's call Daddy and tell him to order it." Eve said as she handed Lei her phone.

"Daddy?" I smirked.

"He moved his ass in and is trying to get me pregnant." She rolled her eyes.

"Come on, man. Give me a nephew." I smirked.

"You first." She looked at me.

"Not happening. I'm about to be abstinent." I laughed.

"Tell Zion that shit, watch him lose his mind." She chuckled.

"Mommy, let's go. Daddy ordered the pizza." Lei pulled her hand.

"I'll see you guys later." I sighed.

"Call me when you get back home." Eve said.

She kissed the top of my head then left with Lei. I sat around for a few minutes before going to grab something to eat and heading home. I talked to Eve as I walked in the house. Zion sat in the middle of the couch, making me roll my eyes.

"Shocked to see you here." I said.

I walked to my dining room and pulled out my large chicken caeser salad. He sat across from me, watching me.

"What?" I asked.

"Can we talk?" He asked.

"I think we need to." I said as I wiped my mouth.

"You go first." He motioned towards me.

"I think I need to start seeing less of you so I can stop needing you." I said.

"What?" He asked.

"I've played sideline so much, I don't remember who I am. Who I was before I met you." I shrugged.

"You've always been your own person. That's why I love you." He said.

"Love me enough to actually make me the main one? The only one?" I asked.

"I'm not ready for all that." He said.

I shook my head.

"Then, see ya, Zion. You not ready to commit to one woman but you can commit to making me miserable." I said.

"I can't leave you alone. You know that." He said.

"Then leave all these other females alone!" I yelled.

I watched him reel back from the tone of my voice. I took a deep breath before speaking again, in a softer tone.

"I think we need time apart." I said.

He nodded.

"If that's what it'll take." He shrugged.

He stood up from the table as I did the same. He walked to my side, pulling me into his arms. I wrapped mine around him.

"I love you, Jay." He said into my hair.

"I know. I love you too." I said into his chest.

He pulled away from me and left out. I heard the door close shortly after and I sat back down with a sigh. This time apart was needed but it was going to be hard to deal with.
