Chapter Thirty Two

They don't know I'm here for their son, do they?

I studied the couple across from me that were very obviously Alex's parents.
They filled out discharge papers and waited for awhile for him, but they haven't been here nearly as long as me.

I didn't know exactly when Alex would be getting out, it could've been early in the morning, so I got here around 7am and now it's just after 12pm.

I'm glad they were here, that meant he would be coming any minute now.

Every time the elevator opened I looked to see if it was him, I made sure to get the seat that was closest so I could see when he came.

I heard the door open, and this time it was actually him. We immediately locked eyes, and I got that nervous feeling again.

Today is the day that I get to hold his hand, and hug him, and kiss him.

I smiled at him and his Blink 182 shirt he wore.
I stood up as he walked towards us, and only a second after I did his parents did too, looking at me with a confused glare.

His mom was smiling "we filled out your discharge papers, how are you feeling, Alex?" She said as she addressed him.
Just as he said, she sounded extremely British.

"I'm good, mom" he said gently, looking at me.
"Mom, Dad this is Jack" Alex said as he motioned towards me.

I smiled at his parents, and his dad reached out to shake my hand, I took it willingly as he began to speak again
"He's my boyfriend"
As soon as the words were out of Alex's mouth, his dad dropped my hand and gave him a furious look. He looked at me as if my hand had been covered in literal shit when I shook his hand.

Ouch. Awkward.

Alex's mom looked at me with a bit of confusion "hello, Jack-"

"Alex, you don't need to come home with us" his dad said, anger obvious in the tone he used.

What a dick.

I watched Alex's mom as she sat quietly, her mouth shut just as her husband wanted it to stay. I could see it in her eyes that she wanted Alex to come home with them. She looked so upset.

"Okay, he can just stay with me, then" I said quickly intervening before Alex was expected to say anything. I moved to stand beside Alex.
"Don't worry Mrs.Gaskarth, I know you love your son" I said before moving my eyes to Alex's fathers expectant eyes.
"And I'll take care of him without making him feel like shit every day of his life" I said.
I couldn't help but smile.
I'm so bad.

I didn't think twice before grabbing Alex's hand and pulling him along with me out the door.

Alex's hand was soft, and he held mine so gently as our fingers interlocked. His hand was warm compared to mine and I couldn't help but notice how perfect it felt.

I've had a first kiss, I've had sex and a boyfriend.

I've never held anyone's hand.

"Oh my god" Alex whispered as we stepped out.

He's so cute.

"Come on, I planned something for us" I said, smiling at him as he tightened his grip on my hand.

I bumped shoulders with him as we walked, just glad to be able to touch him after so long. It was worth it.

"I'm sorry about your parents" I said honestly after a few minutes.
