Please don't think I think that Fitz and Coulson should be in a relationship. This is literally just fluff.

AU: Alpha/Beta/Omega

Fitz wasn't sure what it was, but lately he'd been thinking of Coulson as less of a boss and more like his Dad.

You may think it's absurd, but it wasn't all that odd, Fitz was only sixteen. Coulson was well into his forties, so their ages weren't the problem.

He'd almost slipped up several times in the course of their working together.

"D-...!" Fitz cut off with a shake off his head, hurrying over to his superior.

"Coulson!" Coulson stopped and Fitz looked at him. "I understand why you had to punch me, sir. I forgive you."

Coulson nodded and Fitz saw some of the guilt leave his eyes.

Coulson smiled briefly before leaving and Fitz did a brief moment of soul searching before he found what he was looking for.

He thought of Coulson as his Dad, instead of his boss.

This was bad.

"Da-..." Fitz spluttered for a moment, grasping for the right word that was hidden under the damped genius and unintentional forgetfulness.

"Coulson." Phil supplies gently, not minded or not noticing the slip up.

"Coulson. Yes." Fitz ignored the feeling of panic in his chest because he knew who his father was and Coulson wasn't his father.

That didn't stop the feelings bubbling up inside him when ever he looked at Coulson.

He used that feeling and the feelings he felt with all of the rest to identify them in the first few days because he knew them but he couldn't recall their names.

May. Skye. Coulson. Jemma.

After three minutes damage is permanent.

Understatement.

Coulson assured him that it was okay if he didn't remember, that he'd remember with time. Coulson and Jemma where his saving grace, Fitz wasn't sure what he would've done without them both.

Fitz didn't understand though, why he'd nearly called Coulson "dad".

He sighed. Oh, well. Just another one of the things he'd understand when his brain decided to remember.

"D-..." Fitz shook his head as Coulson came in. "Coulson!" He called. "I have the new upgrades you asked for." He pulled a briefcase from his desk and handed it to his superior officer.

"Thanks, Fitz." Coulson replied, opening the briefcase.

Fitz blew out a breath as Coulson walked away.

"You'll have to tell him sooner or later, Fitz. I'm sure he'll understand." Simmons commented from her station.

"I know."

It wasn't until Fitz got amnesia that Phil was told. By none other than Fitz himself.

"Dad." Fitz's eyes where mostly blank, save the pricks of worry that where carefully masked. Unless you knew him, which the team did. "Where's my Dad?" He asked, looking right at Jemma.

Mack and Jemma looked at each other, sharing uneasy looks that shook the rest of the team.

Jemma stepped forward. "Fitz. Your dad left. Don't you remember?" She questioned.
