The next morning, the boys started to all get up and changed right into their togs with a tee shirt without even informing me that we are going to the beach, but since Ashton told me I already knew. Then since muffin was kind of a secret, I had to play dumb.
"Where are we going," I asked Luke, just pulling down my tee shirt over my togs as I exited the bathroom.
"Oh. Sorry I didn't tell you. I just assumed Ashton would have last night.
"Well you assumed correct but I do have to play dumb when Michael comes around."
"Well, the secret is spoiled anyway so no need. Just tell him I told you," Luke instructed, walking out the door to leave me in silence. Where was Ashton anyway? And where was Luke going? I grabbed my bag of books, my phone, suncream, and my sunnies and went over to Michael's hotel room and knocked on their door. Calum opened with a moan, still in his pants. I walked in and saw Michael still sprawled across the bed which to Calum did the same on his.
"Hey! I thought we were going to the beach," I asked him, shaking him awake.
He moaned and then replied, cavemanly, "Sun. Bad. Sleep. Good."
"Okay then," I sighed, "I guess I'll just have to go in my togs with Ashton and Luke. Alone." Michael immediately sat up and moved to the bathroom. He finished and came out in his togs and tee shirt as well.
"You are an evil human being, Payson Clifford," he locked stare with me and then pushed Calum off the bed. He landed on the floor with a thunk and then got up, shoving Michael weakly. He moved to the bathroom and then Michael turned back to me.
"Just because you don't sleep doesn't give you the right to take other's sleep away," he told me.
"I don't. Ashton does. He was the one that was super excited for the beach."
"I wonder why," he smirked at me and then went to grab his phone and some earbuds. Calum came out, still slumping around, and then grabbed his stuff before following us out. Ashton and Luke were in the cafeteria, grabbing some late breakfast. We grabbed a few things and then made our way down to the beach. We set up just a few feet above shoreline and then just sat around, soaking up some sun and eating breakfast.
"So what's our plan," I whispered to Ashton while he was spreading the Vegemite he brought on his toast. He couldn't part with that stuff for more than a day.
"I was thinking Luke and us could go down to the water and then tell him to go back, claiming he is tired, and then tell them we're going to for a walk down the beach. Simple as that," he smiled, touching his hand to my bare knee. I laughed and went to go hand Michael the sun cream I just finished applying to myself for his turn.
"Luke. You wanna join me Ashton down by the water. Please," I asked him, pouting my bottom lip out.
"Okay. Just for a few minutes and no splashing," he warned, following us down to the shoreline. We played around a bit, Ashton and I splashing around in the water like little kids and Luke watching. Luke grew tired and went back to Michael, informing him we were going down the shore for a walk, just as planned. I put my dry tee shirt I set aside over my shoulder. Ashton and I walked hand in hand down the shore, away from my cousin.
"This is nice. I love the beach," Ashton told me.
"Me too. The best part about beaches is the fact that whichever beach you are at around the world, it will always be the same sand and water combination."
"Just the same way I'll be here for you. Wherever you are. Always," he smiled and wrapped his arm around my bare waist.
"You will," I asked, hopeful.
"Always. You're my peach," he assured me, kissing my cheek and pulling me closer to him. I saw a couple on bikes pass us as we made our way up to the footpath.
"I've always wanted to ride bikes at the beach," I sighed, thinking of how fun that would be.
"You wanna try it? With me," he asked.
"Would you," I asked him, smiling into his brown-green eyes.
"Sure. It'll be fun. Come on," he pulled me over to the bike rental place and rented us two bikes. I slipped back on my tee shirt and took the bike from Ashton. "One hour," he told me. That should get us from here to the end of the beach and back, giving us plenty of time to "linger". I told Ashton what I was thinking and he agreed with me.
"Race you to the end," I said, looking at the good twenty feet we had in front of us.
"Deal," Ashton smirked, turning his hands on the handles as if it was a motorcycle.
"Ready," I said.
"Set."
"Go," I yelled, taking off for the small patch of trees at the end, watching for the pedestrians. I made myself a clear path on the outside of the footpath, Ashton catching up to me. I haven't done this in forever so it was fun to feel the wind rush in my face. I sped down to the end. Ashton and I were neck and neck, him sliding slightly ahead of me at the end. We both skidded to a stop and started laughing, out of breath. We got off at gave each other a big, engulfing hug, not letting go until we caught our breath. Finally, we let go and parked our bikes down by a tree. We stood in the shade, having plenty of time before we head back.
"I won," he smirked at me. "What's my prize?" He took a step closer to me. I couldn't help but look down at his bare chest and then back up to his lips and then his eyes.
"This," I told him, connecting our lips hungrily. I felt him smile and then pull me up as I wrapped my legs around him. He moved me into the shade under the tree where no one could really see and then set me down again, pressing against the rough bark. He kept kissing me, pulling my waist towards him. He moved down my neck and then I stopped him.
"Sorry," he blushed.
"No. It's fine. I just," I stopped mid sentence and then took control, kissing down his neck now. I found his weak spot just at the base of his neck, and then his hands started to move up the back of my shirt. It wasn't fair that I got his bare chest but I still had a tee shirt on, so I let him move to take it off. I was in my togs anyway. He pulled it off my head and threw it to the side, smiling into our kiss once more. I let my hands slide up the front of him, feeling his abs, and his hands went all over my bare back with tingles and warmth. He took my head in his hands, his long fingers wrapping behind my ears, and pulled me to look at him.
He placed one last soft kiss on my lips before he said, "Sorry to break this up, but we have to get back." He went and picked up my tee shirt, handing it to me. I took it from him, blushing, and then I slipped it back on. I could still feel every part of me that he touched and I smiled to myself. I grabbed my bike after him and moved to the concrete.
"Let's go slow this time. I want to savour this," I told him and he smiled, following along side me slowly. The breeze brushed my face, blowing my hair back, and singing in my ears. Ashton looked over at me and I looked over at him. We smiled to each other. I wish we could take this ride forever. A pang of this ending and going back home hit me. I know it is inevitable, but I really don't want this to end. I focused on riding the bike and eventually made it back to the rental place, turning them back in. I was tired and could feel the loss of air from the bike rides and other event. We walked hand in hand back to the boys. We almost got caught when Michael turned around to watch us approaching. I swung my arm behind my back and so did Ashton. We sat down on opposite side of the boys.
"Where were you guys? You were gone for like an hour," Michael asked me. Oh we were just having a snog behind your back. No big deal, I thought to myself.
"We walked to the end of the shore. It just took awhile," I half-lied. He nodded his head and sat back. I couldn't help but look over at Ashton who kept his eyes focused on me the entire time and feel a shiver run up my back. I wish I was next to him, holding his hand.
"Calum, do you think we could go take one last trip down to the water and then we can head back home after," I asked him.
"Sure. Is that alright Mikey," he asked.
"Sure," he mumbled, not even opening his eyes.
"Thanks. Come on," he said leading me down to the water. I mouthed to Ashton to stay and he slumped back in the sand. I followed Cal out to the icy water.
It had become around 3 o'clock by the time we finished messing around and eating lunch at the little cafe just across from the beach. We all took our sandy selves and went back to the hotel. Showers were our next priority. Michael went first in his room and Luke went first in ours. I went over to Ashton's room and we stood on the tiny balcony.
"Hey, so I was thinking we could do something tonight," he told me, quietly.
"That's sweet muffin, but I'm tired and sandy and ready to lay in bed all night."
"Okay then. How about we offer to get dinner and a movie when the time comes?"
"That's sounds perfect," I smiled at him, placing my hand a top of his before he intertwined our fingers. "It smells so nice out here," I said, taking a long waft of the salty sea air.
"You know what also smells good," he laughed, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close. My arms were now around his neck and his were at my waist as if we were dancing. "You," he finished with a smile. We started swaying, saying nothing and just taking in each other. I had no doubt that both of us smelled just like the sea air and I couldn't wait to be snuggled up beside him during the movie. Michael came out of the shower, a towel wrapped around his waist and a smaller towel in hand he was drying his hair with, and we jumped apart.
"What are you two doing," he asked, suspiciously.
"He was showing me how to dance because I told him I've never done it."
"If you want me to teach you, you can always ask," he explained to me and then sat down on the bed.
"I know," I said, sitting beside him, "it was just kind of a spur of the moment kind of thing. You'll be my real teacher for sure." I nudged him in the shoulder and he half-smiled. Ashton went into the bathroom with a small wave before we heard the shower going.
"I better get some pants on," Michael said and then stood up, heading for their small cases. He picked out a few things and then waited for me to leave. I went back to my door, knocking and then carefully entering. I don't want to see anything I don't have to. Thankfully, Calum was in the shower and Luke was on his phone, fully dressed.
"How's Daisy," I asked him.
"Alright. She is really great, but I kinda feel bad making her wait to meet my friends. I feel bad making up so many excuses." He sighed and then dropped his phone.
"I know," I sympathise. "How about we get you to take her on another date tomorrow?"
"Really? You would do that," he asked.
"Well, when you have a date, it means I have a date too. I'll tell Ashton later and then we can work out the details."
"Thank you. I think I really like her."
"I think so too. You haven't taken your eyes off that thing practically all day."
He laughed and then I turned on the TV, waiting for my turn in the shower. After we were all clean and had relaxed, it was getting close to dinner time so we gathered in my hotel room to discuss it. We decided on fish since we were near the sea. Ashton of course volunteered and then I of course asked to come along. We decided on renting Terminator and Anchorman. We got back to the hotel and the boys jumped right into the food and started munching on it before we even put in a movie. Luke was nibbling on his food, distracted by his phone. Cal and Mike were taking up an entire bed so Ash and I took a spot on the floor after putting in Anchorman. As we started Terminator, I leaned over into his shoulder and asked about tomorrow.
"Ash, Luke wants to go out with Daisy tomorrow. Do you think we can do what we did last time?"
"Absolutely. I have something in mind. But it'll be another surprise, okay?"
"Sounds good to me," I smiled and linked my arm with his as the night continued.
