Idiots apparently don't understand death

Why Percy?

Why?

I sat on the bed in the room I was given.

Why did she have to let go? Why did she?

Groaning I flopped backwards. Nothing I think of is going to bring her back.

The sea was way too rough for her to be rescued.

Hell. There was that wave. How did that thing even form that high?

And Percy...

Why'd she yell no?

And why did the wave disappear?

Ugh. I need to stop thinking. I wiped away the tears that had started falling down my face.

There was a knock at the door.

"Come in."

The door slid open and Steve walked in.

"How are you doing?" He asked.

"Crappy." I replied.

"I know how you feel." He sat on the bed. "Bucky fell off a train. Thought he died."

"How you feeling?" I asked, remembering what was going on today.

"Honestly? Better than I expected."

He offered me a hand. Taking it I allowed him to pull me up to a sitting position.

"It was his decision this time. Until we can figure out how to get that stuff out of his head."

"Someday I might be able to. But I don't think I want to try."

My fault. Could have saved her. Could have used my powers.

Steve wrapped an arm around me and pulled me close to him.

"Wanda, if you hold it in it will only get worse."

The 'I should know' wasn't voiced, but it was there.

I turned into his side and let the tears flow freely.

A sob broke past my lips. "It's Pietro all over again."

"Sh. Just let it out. Just let it out." He rubbed my back soothingly.

"How is she?" Clint asked.

When did he come in?

"Air ducts again?" Steve asked.

"Yeah. Old habits die hard." I heard him drop down.

"She's taking it pretty hard." The archer commented.

"She's right here you know." I looked at him.

"The getting off your ass thing isn't going to work this time is it?"

"Clint..." Steve warned.

"Just trying to lighten the mood. Nat would have said something really insensitive."

"But she's a spy, assassin, and was trained in a place where she had to kill or be killed. So she has a reason to be." I said softly.

"How do you know that?" Clint asked me, astonished.

"Really? Did you really just ask that?" I wiped my eyes.

"Right..." He chuckled, embarrassed.

I should tell them.

"Percy is-was the closest thing I had to a sister. And I lost her. At this point I'm starting to think my family just dies. So I want to quit the Avengers Initiative."
