THE GIFTED ONE

Chapter 16

In the darkness all I could hear were muffled voices around me. I tried to open my eyes but it was as though they were glued together. 

As the noises got louder and louder around me there were two voices that I recognised.  Stella's and Tori's.

With all my strength I tried again to force my eyes open and this time the eye lids slowly moved apart. They were as heavy as lead,  but slowly I started to see the world again.

Peering over me, with huge smiles were those two girls who had become my best friends during the time I had been here.

'Good morning sunshine, it is such a beautiful day to go for a nice walk in the woods, isn't it Stella?' Tori said.

'Yes it definitely is,' Stella said. Both of them smiling at me.

I didn't understand why they were so happy, I had messed up my fight and I ended up in the hospital. What could be so great.

All of a sudden I realised that they must have been chosen to fight against the evil.

'You got in didn't you?' I asked them trying to give them a happy smile.

'Yes we did,' Stella said jumping around the hospital room. 

'And so did you,' she said smiling at me.

'What? Really?' I said in disbelief. 'Are you serious?'

'Yes and we leave early tomorrow morning' Tori said.

'Really!!!,' I screamed really loudly.

The nurse came rushing in, in a panick.

'What's wrong Kat?' The nurse asked, extremely worried.

'Nothing I am just soooo happy,' I said with a huge grin plastered on my face.

'Well, if you are feeling that much better, you can go back to your room,' she said and walked off.

I got up straight away and hugged Tori and Stella.

'Come on then, lets go and pack,' I said happily.

We walked out of the room  together, arm in arm.

'So who else got in?' I asked.

'Well, the people you would expect. Ky, Natasha, her group of minions and Theo,' Tori said. We have been split up into groups, some will fight the evil and ohers will help the people who have been affected by it.'

'Theo, Ky, Stella, You and I are on a team together, which is so exciting,' Stella said contentedly.

Once we reached my room, they left me to pack and get a good night's rest.

I packed everything into my backpack. My training clothes, that I would be using a lot, my hairbrush, the book that I had been reading.

I then went straight to bed and slept.  I wanted the next day to come as quickly as possible.

I woke up to a bright light shining on my face from the window.

I smiled to myself, this was the day.

'Oh no,' I said to myself. 

I frantically got up, remembering that I had to be in the training room by 7:00 and it was already 7:30.

I got changed as quickly as possible, grabbed my bag and ran down the corridor into the training room, where Principle Lorelea was stood talking to about fifteen people who were sat in front of her.

I crept in quietly and sat down at the back.

'Today, you will embark on one of the scariest, exciting and dangerous journeys of your life and us as a school and a nation want you to know how proud we are of every one of you. Good luck and have faith for there will be hard times that you will face but you can overcome them,' she said looking at everyone of us.

'Good luck, you will now be dismissed in groups by Rosaline,' she said.

We all stood up with bags on our backs, ready for the journey ahead.

I looked at each person who passed me and I  realised that I might never see some of them again.

Lorelea then came up to me. She said with a smile, 'You will achieve great things just remember that you have the gift and use it wisely.'

'Thank you for everything and I will try my best to prove myself,' I replied.

My group and I then crowded together and made sure we were ready.

Stella, Ky and Tori were talking abut the root we would and I listened as well, trying to ignore Theo's stare. 

'We will have to trek through forests, climb some of the tallest hills and wonder through many valleys before we reach our destination,' Ky said.

Once we had finished talking, Ky grabbed Theo by the arms and pulled him outside, ready for our first day travelling, of many.

Tori and Stella did the same to me , smiling  and running after the boys towards our first obstacle, the black forest. 

Whatever, this journey would hold, I would hold on to my power within.

The power of the elements but also the power of being a strong, confident  and powerful young lady.

Galantia was counting on me and I would save it.
