Chapter 19

It started to snow around me, it was as though the evil that I had beheld had chilled the world.

I felt frozen to the ground and I could barely feel any part of my body, I was that cold.

It felt like I had been here for ages and the sky was beginning to get darker. If I had to stay here the night, I would not survive.

I just prayed that someone from my group would find me.

...........................................................................................................

It was probably an hour later but I had no sense of time.

It was still snowing and my body discovered in a thin layer. It was an effort to keep my eyes open and it wouldn't be long until I was completely covered in snow and my eyes would close. No one would be able to find me.

All of a sudden I heard some loud footsteps, running towards me and  heavy breathing.

This was my chance to get help.

The person stopped to cat h his breathe. He was a young man who looked in his early twenties. He looked around frantically as though he was searching for something.

He seemed familiar but I didn't know from where.

He turned around and saw me lying there helplessly on the ground.

I tried to open my mouth, which was glued together by the cold ice. I tried to speak but my voice cracked.Again I tried and said 'Help me, please,' in the my most pleading voice.

Not reacting to my voice, he just looked at me with his dark, scared eyes and said. 'I think something is out there and it is coming after me.' He ran off, without looking back, leaving me behind.

A few moments later, the creatures that I had seen before, ran past me, in a huge herd. Galloping after the man. I huddled closer to the tree, hoping to keep out of sight.

All of them ran past but one. It slowed and came to stop right next to me.

I could not move away so I kept still and breathed as quietly as I could.

Its arms were trailing along the ground, with its claws scratching the ice, getting closer and closer to my body.

Its nose was sniffing my body and face, getting increasingly closer with each sniff.

I was going to die, alone, without my family or my new friends.

I thought everything was over, when the creature burst into dust right before my eyes.

Where the creature used to stand, I saw someone. I could see their heavy breathe in the cold air. They had beautiful, short,  chocolate coloured hair with golden specks that sparkled from their dark brown eyes. They were tall and skinny, with exactly the right amount of muscle. It was Theo.

He ran towards me and started flicking off the snow that was covering my body.

Whilst he was doing this he said 'You are so stupid,'with a worried expression on his face.

I tried to reply even though my teeth were chattering so much that you could hardly hear me. 'I was trying to find you,' I said to him.

He then looked at me, with a look that I had never seen before.
One of care.

He then lifted me up off the ground, I was still freezing cold but at least I could now get warm again.

........................................................................................................................

He carried me in silence not showing any sign of getting tired.

We had probably been walking for about an hour, when I recognised the familiar clearing.

There sat Tori, Ky and Stella by a fire, trying to keep warm.

They were rubbing their hands together and snuggled up under some blankets.

As soon as they saw me, they ran to me relieved.

'Oh my God, Kat, why did you leave by yourself, you are so silly!' Tori said to me.

'Yeah, we have been worried sick,' Stella said.

'Theo couldn't stop talking about you and how he had to find you,' Ky said.

I looked up at Theo and he was looking down at me, with the same look as before.

He carried me towards the fire and put me down. He then grabbed a blanket.

He sat behind me and covered us both with the blanket. He was no longer afraid to show he cared about me in front of his friends.

I snuggled in closer not caring about the way Ky, Tori and Stella looked at me or the rule that forbid people from other elemental groups to be together, I just enjoyed the moment.
