Paige's POV

"I'll see you later." I called over my shoulder as I climbed out of my mum's car and shut the door behind me. It was a grey and over cast day and I pulled my coat tighter around me as I shivered lightly.

I was a dreary Saturday morning and my mum had just dropped me off at Darren's house; I had barely spoken to him all week and I think he knew that something was wrong. I had decided that today was the day that I would tell him... today was that day that he would find out that he's going to be a father... today was the day that I was practically going to ruin his life.

I had gone over in my head what I was going to say to him many many times and I finally settled on how to phrase things after a lot of serious thought however as soon as I laid eyes upon his house my mind went completely blank.

I walked slowly up the driveway to Darren's house and knocked on the door anxiously before stepping back. A series of excited yells sounded from behind the door and suddenly it burst open to reveal Darren's grinning younger sister Lucy.

Lucy was almost five years old; she had beautiful long, blonde hair that curled lightly at the ends; she had sparkling blue eyes that crinkled at the corners when she grinned - which was all the time - and she had the happiest smile in the world. Her joy was contagious and you couldn't help but beam whenever she was around.

"Pai Pai!" She exclaimed excitedly as she wrapped her arms around my legs.

"Hi Lucy." I cooed sweetly as I attempted to step through the doorway.

"I missed you Paige!" Lucy mused as she untangled her arms from my legs and grinned up at me. I felt a pang within me and I couldn't help but smile warmly at her sentiment. Her sincerity was endearing and I felt almost maternal as I bent down to her height and pulled her into a hug.

"I missed you too Lucy." I said smiling at her.

"There's my two favourite girls." Darren announced as he walked down the stairs. I stood up and wrapped my arms around him as he came down the last two steps. "Ooh someone's eager to see me." He said chuckling, I rolled my eyes and pulled back to give him a quick peck on the lips.

"Ugh." Lucy shouted at our display of affection causing me and Darren to giggle.

"Lucy how about you go find something to do whilst me and Paige go upstairs for a bit?" Darren asked sweetly; Lucy nodded her head and went scuttling off into the living room.

Darren laced our fingers together and lead me upstairs to his room. I felt his thumb graze over the back of my palm lightly as we walked and I smiled at the intimate gesture however I soon began to feel guilty because I knew that any minute now I was about to ruin everything.

"It's really great to see you." Darren said smiling as he lead me into his room and shut the door behind us. "It seems like it's been ages since it's been just the two of us."

I hummed in agreement as I sat down on his bed and let out a shaky breath.

"Paige are you OK?" He asked worriedly as he sat down next to me and wrapped an arm around my waist.

"Y-yeah I'm fine." I lied as I took his hands in mine and began to play with our fingers.

"Paige," he said condescendingly, "I know when you're lying... what's wrong? I mean you've been quiet and reserved all week. Whatever it is, you can tell me." He said reassuringly as he placed a gentle kiss on my cheek.

I turned my head to look at him and I bit my lip gently as I tried to think of where to begin.

I wasn't at all prepared for this... I should've thought this through more, I should have figured out what I want before discussing this with him:

Do I even want to keep the baby? Of course I do, I would never consider abortion and the thought of carrying around a child for nine months just to then give it up for adoption sounds unbearable.

Do I want him to be involved? Definitely, every child needs a father and what's more I'll need him to support me.

Will I want continue with school?

Do I want him there when I tell my parents?

Will we live together?

How will we pay for the baby's things?

My head was swimming with questions and I felt my heart rate increase as I started to become stressed with the thoughts of how he might react to this; I let out a frustrated sigh and dropped my head into my hands.

Darren moved our intertwined hands into his lap and drew shapes on the back of my palm with his thumb. "Please talk to me Paige... you're really starting to scare me." He pleaded.

"Sorry." I mumbled as I pulled myself together and raised my head to look at him.

Here we go.

"Darren... I-I'm pregnant." I whispered.

"I'm sorry what?" He asked sounding confused and shocked.

"I'm pregnant." I repeated myself, more firmly this time.

"What no you're not." He said laughing.

My face fell at his dismissal and I wondered whether I could just laugh this off as a joke and get out before it was too late. No, I have to do this.

"Yes I am." I said plainly.

"Pfft you're kidding me right?!" He said whilst chuckling nervously. I shook my head in response.

"W-what so you're..."

"Yes."

His mouth dropped open and his face became noticeably pale.

"Darren?" I asked softly gaining no response.

"Darren?" I asked more determinedly this time.

"Why are you telling me this?" He muttered darkly.

"What?" I asked confusedly.

"Why are you even telling me this Paige?" He snapped, releasing my hands and standing up off of the bed.

"Darren please." I begged but he ignored me and began to pace around his room.

"Why did you tell me this Paige? I mean what do you expect me to do? Do you expect me to drop out of school and get a job to pay for this.. this thing? Or do you expect us to move in together and be a family?" He asked nastily.

"Darren I-"

"I have a life you know!" He roared.

"I know I just-"

"You just what Paige?"

"I don't know." I gasped before breaking down into tears.

Darren looked uncomfortable at my reaction and he made several moves to come over to me but each time he would pull back and run a hand through his hair.

I wiped the tears from my face and snivelled loudly as I stood up.

"I'm sorry for bringing you into this mess." I murmured quietly before exiting his room, rushing down the stairs and running out of the front door.
