The main character can speak to ghosts and he later found out that every person that supposedly talks to ghosts are fake. Some people who died don't become ghosts, not every human who dies becomes a ghost. The ghosts speak a language that is older than humankind and is as old if not older than the universe it supposedly an alien language and no human can speak it and understand except the main character, but the main character can only understand it. It easy to talk to ghosts but it's harder to get the ghosts to talk back because humans change when they become a ghost and they want nothing but to be left alone and also wants nothing to do with humankind. The ghosts were not a human invention they were created when an alien race did an experiment regarding the supposed afterlife with caused this alien race to destroy itself with this experiment but also caused what we humans now called the big bang. The main character is human.
